Rollingstone mag talks about US, worldwide clubbing, drugs, and DJ's !
Who in here saw this months Rollingstone Magazine's article on Drugs, Clubbing, and the DJ;s !?!?! Ir pretty much sums up everything, from US crackdown, Drug controls, to Ibiza, the British invasion, the scene, culture, underground, the best DJ's, their profiles ( Sasha, Digweed, Tiesto, Oakenfold among many more ) and the spots in the USA to where the best parties are and whats next for the raves and so on... interesting stuff, I would recommend on reading some as to know whats really going on in the US club scene. Crackdowns are a big thread for the elelctronic Dance events, clubs and promoters..

thats not what i was implying, but whatever, come to your own conclusions. im not gonna argue with any of you. my comment had nothing to do with trance, just the fact that rolling stone is a sellout in contrast to stuff they wrote about in the past earlier years.
look who cares i think if the american trance scene becomes more bigger and compete against rap then im all for it !

Well, the Article it pretty much covers the GLOBAL club scene, asm it talks about Ibiza been the capital of clubbing, and Ayia Napa for been the paradise for Two Step, , profiles the best DJ's, and since the magazine is american then it covers some(obviously) american Djs, but you will also (obvoiusly) see Sasha, Digweed, Carl Cox, Feliz the Housecatt, Oakenfold, Erick Morillo, Sandra Collins, Hawtin , Tiesto, and no, Paul van Dyk I didnt see, but its mentioned though on the inside of Love Parade, it discusses about the biggest parties, the best clubbing places in the US, the ecstacy laws, drug uses, and about UK, how well they are into electronic Dance, and so so so so on, as many of you saw, its not about making anything commercial or anything, but pretty much getting an inside scoop of the underground, the features on the best places for clubbing ( in america ) and global clubbing .. its history and so on. And for those saying its another way of making trance mainstream, please read before posting, because its not ABOUT trance music but about the clubbing scene, which covers all from acid house to techno.

The guy who owned the sound system asked me if he could record the set. I said sure. When I finish, I'm so buzzing I think, 'Fuck, this set is going to be the basis of my next CD!' I'd done all these mixes I'd never done before -- I was completely in the zone. The guy comes up to me and says, 'Why don't you give me your address and I'll mail you a copy of these Minidiscs?' The guy disappears and then comes back in a real huff, handing me discs and saying, 'You said I could record your set and then you took it back, so I've erased them.' But I had seen him writing on the discs as he was recording them, and these were all blank, so I knew he still had them. I got into a huge row with him, and we got more and more wound up. The decks were right next to the swimming pool, and I just knocked the entire lot over while my partner John Digweed was in the middle of the mix! those are cool stories but I don't like the article as far as accurately portraying our club scene. I only read the New York article and they managed to screw up half of what they wrote.
I don't like it that they are feeding on the misconception that the scene revolves around drugs where those of us in NYC who go out everyday obviously are not doing drugs every night, and those of us who are going out like that are the ones defining the scene.
They also fail to mention anything about the driving force of our club scene: MUSIC!
And they basically say that our scene is dead because former Mayor Guiliani closed many of the super clubs. I'm sorry but I still find quality music every night of the week.
This is stupid. Another magazine on the bandwagon, unfortunately they are only 5/6 years too late. This 'club drug' scene has been going on since the late 80's, atleast in NYC.
i thought it was funny where tiesto was talking about having sex in the booth while trying to spin

i found that whole thing bullshit and is just another way for the media to portray are scene as underground drug addicted deviants...
i wrote the editor of Rolling Stone Magazine an email..this is what it says::::
To the Editor
I don't know who this David Prince guy is that wrote article on NYC's club scene...but hes not very accurate....u should maybe decide to have someone who KNOWS the NYC scene to write an article on it...that was horrendous....he obviously does not know NYC.
Also all the accomplishments DJ Tiesto has achieved as an artist and all he puts in is a sex story and drinking....thats absurd
Its people such as David Prince who write these terrible articles that give the "Trance/Tech/Rave" scene a bad name..and make it harder for us to have good parties...
I remember the Twilo, Limelight, Tunnel and even the old Robot Parties at NASA in NYC and the REAL people in the scene where there for the MUSIC...not the drugs...it so typical of the media to write such garbage...you guys are supposed to be a valuable music source yet you sure as hell do not represent the scene i have grown up on and the scene in which i still live....
And next time why dont u have Mr Prince quote Tiesto on all the times he says "You dont need drugs when you listen to Uplifting Trance"...i have seen him say that numerous times and have even heard him say it in person...
So thank you for just being another media source trashing the trance/tech scene...you guys do no good for are scene...and thats why trance and tech will never get big here in America..because of you guys who do nothing but fall victom to Brtitney Spear's chrams and Ozzy Osbournes status on MTV....what a fraud...thanks!!!!
