windows xp installation help

when i install my windows xp during the installation where it restarts your comp it says that my local drive is corrupted and cannot continue the install. anyone know whats going on and how i can fix this? thanks in advance

before XP installs it does a system check to make sure ur system is compatable with xp, as well as a hard disk test. obvioiusley your drive is failing the harddisk test for some reason. if you are upgrading from an earlier verison of windows try running scandisk to see if that reports any problems (run the complete test not the quick test)
