Bas - Live at Lucid, Los Angeles 03.28.10

Recorded live at a residency of mine here in Los Angeles. I should be back once a month or so, lots of rotating residents. Lots of fun this party, outdoors, reasonably priced drinks, mexican food. Aw yeah.

Pretty happy with the way this turned out, it was a great party. My only regret is the mixing isn't as tight as I would hope for. There's a few reasons why but those shouldn't get in the way

And here I was thinking it would just be a mix you recorded at Myra's place.

Haha, this mix has 'Bas' written all over it

So many vocals man, I've not heard a set like this from you in quite a while. I thought that you maybe over-did it with the vocals in the middle third of the mix (and a couple of the tunes themselves were quite 'heavy' compared to others) - it was messing around with your flow, I thought. Though, I understand you were playing live, so I guess your tunes were following what the crowd was into at the time.

I wasn't expecting you to slow things down a bit at the end, either. Purposely done to set things up for the following DJ?

In any case, I really enjoyed it! You pulled out the funky shit, man.

What sort of party was this? Anyone take pics?

Will download, if only to hear Talk To Me. Love that track Though lately it's been reminding me of Moonlight Party.

Have no idea what the rest of this is, so will be interesting

Yeah the crowd was pretty much into very funky/vocally stuff. No one I knew was taking pics unfortunately. Someone I met at the party had a few and posted them on Facebook, but she deleted he whole profile for some reason. And I slowed it down at the end to fit in Gin Nation...at +8 that track is still like 115 bpm. I tried to make it as gradual as possible but unfortunately liquor had other plans.

Enjoyed it thoroughly, great deep house set man. Although there were a few slips here and there, would have love to seen the vibe of this party.

Listening now, and this is freaking awesome! There are a few hiccups with the mixing (understandably, as this was done live) - i.e. beats not matched up properly, or crossfading slam, but the song selection really works for me. A bit chill, a bit funky, very summery. Reminds me of Add2Basket.

Yaz remix
Song at 72 min is great too, nice piece of soulful house.

After the Yaz mix, the energy declines and the direction of the mix switches, it's very reminiscent of Naked Music type stuff at this point. But then it's all good, as you recover in the last 20 min or so, with the Tiger and Woods tracks.
