Anyone ever have a tooth implant?

I had a root canal done on a tooth then never got it capped & crowned. So now its 5 years later & it had to be dealt with. My options were a bridge or implant. I chose the implant since it was the permenant option. I was awake the whole time but it was uncomfortable.

I really don't understand how people with money can get their whole mouth filled with these things. Its gotta be hell doing a whole mouths worth of implants and it's also hell on the pocket book. So hopefully after a cap & crown 6 months almost $4k later ill have a permenant veneer tooth.

any horror stories? any good stories?

I had my tooth knocked out from a grate falling on my FACE. I was thinking about getting a fake one put in. I could have got it for free when I was still in the Marines but it's too late now.

I had a root canal on a molar about 5 years ago. Got that joker capped. Haven't had any problems since. The only bad experience was sitting in the dentist chair going through the process. I had some tiny little Vietnamese female dentist who kept telling me it wouldn't hurt... lol. Boy was she off.

My right upper Molar has now been replaced by a crown. Had a cavity on that tooth for about 2 years, and didn't have any insurance. So I let it go until the pain was unbearable, luckily by that time, I did have dental coverage with my employer.

Root Canal & Crown. It was an uncomfortable feeling at first because it's different to that of the tooth that was there. Now it feels like it's a normal tooth.

root canals don't hurt one bit. I've had 3 done and one took ages and still was ok. Its a matter of passing the time for it.

On topic, Jonny, I need implants when I have the cash but i'm going for something like this

going into mainland europe, especially spain, hungary & eastern europe gives a much better price than we have to pay in the UK where it's astronomical.

Even with the currency exchange, your UK prices do look a bit less expensive than here in the States. When its all said & done I should be paying about $4200 out the door but my dentist gave me a break & lowered it to $3800 since i sold him a kitchen

Had mine put in since, I think around october, only now got into the try & fit phase. The 6 months waiting and recovery period sucks bad.
Pain-wise it ain't too bad, only hurted for a few days after the operation. It is extremely costly though.

Not the actual "canal" I was referring to- that was just uncomfortable pressure going on in my numbed mouth. I was referring to the 2nd part where a different doctor was doing the cap... she wanted to give me the bare minimum of topical anesthetic which didn't fully numb me. My nerve was exposed and sensitive as fuck. I literally had tears coming out the corner of my eyes and she didn't hook me up with more drugs.

my dentist never chinces on the anesthetic, last time i had work done i got 9 hits of it. probably helps that i told him if he didnt sufficiently medicate me to my level of comfort, i would improvise before my apt.... lol

you're lucky. give me the extra every time just in case. i have since found a new dentist but haven't had to use any anesthetic yet. I can't STAND tooth pain.

Ah, well I've had that feeling before. Luckily my dentist was very good & the moment I gave him the sign they ask you to, he gave me about another 15 shots before it froze that day. Weird as it's never done that before. Definitely uncomfortable, more than any process i've ever had.

I want all my teeth taking out and replacing with artificial dentures.

Get it done in mexico if you want cheap prices.. I can hook you up for way less than you are paying at $4k.

I've seen quotes on veners between $350 and $500 depending on the type.

Seriously thought about that. But since this was my first implant I didn't want a communication barrier with my dentist & also my current dentist I really trust from doing business with him in the past. Trust is very important.. especially when it comes to teeth.

I got my stuff in TO done for the day, I'm free again until Wednesday.... then I'll be back in TO.. this time for the entire day rather than just errands. Chances are I'll be back Wednesday night unless I stay in TO (which is a posibility) but it is easier for me to stay on Friday night.. I catch my plane saturday morning and I need to be in TO all day Friday... just need to sort out where I'm keeping my luggage as it is doubtful I'll get a room, I may just store my stuff and go out Friday, then head to the airport after being out for the night..

but yeah I am.. I'm in the "not sure how much time I have" phase. Wednesday thursday will be hardcore trip preparation so even less time. I have more errands to run locally here tomorrow and then I need to wake up at like 5am on wednesday meaning early to bed.

for vazer you are looking around $2500

still way less than US and canada (atleast 50% less.) but you need to pay for flight which can run about $600-1000 return local accomodations can vary in price - from 100$ a month to $600.

It all depends what you are looking for. And it isn't hack work - mexico has some of the best plastic suregeons in the world.

In Canada the costs are about 6x's as much.

I thought I would be in TO longer and I wouldn't have the time to be online today but what I thought might take up my evening only took me 2 hours. Meaning I have about 4 hours now, not that I plan on spending all this time on TA as I have two reports to finalize for tomorrow also. And more research for mexico.

speak for yourself... was probably the most intense pain i ever felt for that half second they touch the red hot instrument against the exposed nerve before it goes completely dead... and the smell of burning flesh isn't that pleasant.

unfortunately mine had to be redone twice because it kept cracking internally.. causing a a boil on the side of my gum that comes and goes, antibiotics wouldn't fix. 2 years ago they said it had to be removed / replaced with implant... been putting it off since it's my only molar on lower left side of mouth. was born missing the outermost molar, so would have to chew with only the right side of my mouth for months like a jackass. should probably suck it up and go get it removed soon... keep having those fucked up teeth crumbling dreams because of it.
