[Deep/Groovy/Airy] The Snark - Nectar (Spring 2010 Promo)

Recently recorded this mix the other night after the beautiful weather succeeded in its quest to put me in a good mood. I realized that this recording is truly representative of the way I actually play out (which I seem to have trouble doing when putting together a studio mix), so I decided to use it as my new promo. I have this whole dance-inducing groovy/loopy deep sound with airy overtones thing going on lately, and Ive been rather happy with it.

As always, feedback is much appreciated. | Download Here |

I really look forward to it... you have awesome taste in music (though I don't know if this will be your thing or not).

So I remember 'Unimmigrant' from Eelke Kleijn's sets early last year, in this day and age I guess that's considered "dated" or what not. And I actually have that mix of 'About This Love' waiting to be used, recently purchesed. What I was excited about is how well you blended the two to start the mix off proper.

That Saccobros actually took it in a different direction that I expected. I thought you were gonna stay a bit more mellow... "discoish" but that shit hit harder. However, it did mellow out for the next two tunes, so it brings me to this point - maybe a bit early on 'Remember Afterqwality'? I dunno, your mix.

In love with that Tovar track, getting it.

I wasn't sure how I felt when I saw D. Ramirez on the T/L. But I gotta admit that particular mix works well with the tone you were going with. Love the drumming in it.

Another track threw me off, I wasn't sure which one it was at this point, but it had like a distorted seagull call in it and some repetitive strings, and it was just way too proggy and epic for the whole bunch. Didn't fit. Then you brought it in the tail end... now that I look over the T/L it's 'Blank'... probably should've just finished off with it without the whole 'As You Fall' interlude... at least in my opinion.

But who am I to tell you what to do!? Fuck off, right?

Nice mix bro. A mother would be proud.

lol

Thanks, Denys. Really appreciate in-depth reviews like this. Glad to hear you enjoyed it overall.

I know what you mean about having D.Ramirez on the list. It just fit so well.

I understand that... but, having such a catalog of good music to listen to is quite a nice problem to have. My favorite thing about TA.

This was a great mix man, you using this as a promo?

Really nice flow, solid track-selection, a lot of nice chunky house, I especially thought the introduction section was particularly solid, was really "grabbing". Looking forward to the next mix, yo.

Thanks a lot, enydo. Really glad you enjoyed. Yes, I'm using this as a promo.

I'm glad you mention that about the intro... I always have trouble deciding on an intro track, because I want it to be grabbing, yet I want it to set the stage for the set without going over the top right away.

I really liked this mix. Good tracks and solid mixing overall, but I did get a little bored in the track 5-8 range. I liked how you used "blank", and i'm totally going to buy unimmigrant now... Thats one sexy track.

Posted by we_R_DNA on Apr-22-2010 01:20:

ok I listened to the mix while riding my bike and I must say the ipod while riding the bike was rather boring until right at the very end, the last few tracks felt meaningful some how, skipped through the first few 80s disco shit;
opening track was sweet; I think was ruined this for me was the fact that my bike chain broke and i got pissed then I accedently hit my play butotn on the ipod and it starte dover

so I skipped the disco sounds no offense not my bag of tricks

past that though I am now re-listening to the mix on some good speakers with bass and it sounds even more kick ass.

whaat did you use to mix this?
