Same design and setup with i5/i7 CPU and upgraded nVidia graphics? Sounds perfect to me.

What were you expecting?

Macbook...the most overpriced, overrated laptop on the market today.

Ah I get it. Thought he banned you for a sec

I am glad I got the 2008 model, before the stupid black border. This thing can handle most anything I throw at it still.

I was expecting a new model, or a complete revamping this year. I guess that isn't going to happen.

I really like the current design... I was kinda nervous to see what a new one would look like.

What's so special about these processors compared with the previous models then? Ridiculously overpriced.

$1199 for the Macbook Pro is actually cheaper than it has been

In my opinion it's a better buy because they last longer. I bought my Macbook Pro about 3 years ago and I have absolutely no plans to change. Yes it cost about $1200 (employee discount ftw), but the only thing I've felt to change is the RAM.

I believe with the i5/7's they have a gpu built on to them essentially combining a suitable graphics card onto the processor itself. And I think all three of the different types allow hyperthreading.

I thought hyperthreading was really old :|

Do you have a glossy screen or a matte screen, Bas?

I got the matte screen with the assumption that it would be anti-glare and I could use it in the daylight. It's completely useless in the sun

Better than the glossy one though, surely! I can't decide which one to get, I'm thinking matte at the moment so I don't get glare or reflections in a club, or when I'm outdoors.

But the glossy screen looks fantastic, but seems to get fucked over when there's any light.

I almost did the same, but decided to go ahead with the gloss screen, and it's been fantastic both for the outdoors and for night clubs.

That sucks that you can't see in the sun

Everyone I know with any MacBook, iBook, or Powerbook and any of the derivations of those models, still have and use them. I have seen as much as 7 years old laptop running. That does not happen with any other manufacturer. They are more expensive, yes. But overpriced? not at all.

Plus OSX has been (or is, I haven't tried Windows 7 so I can't speak to now) superior to Windows.

Really?

What the screen is like when performing outdoors or in a club is a big factor for me, but I obviously can't borrow one to try it out! I keep on hearing conflicting views

I dunno, I guess everyone's mileage may vary depending on when and where they play, but I haven't had any issues.

I haven't played any extensive outdoor daytime gigs with this one yet, but I do use it outside all the time so I haven't been concerned.
