Another headphone thread...

Sorry, but I can't decide what to do about headphones.

Here's the deal. Mine pretty much suck, so i want some new, better ones. I'm not sure how much i want to pay, but i would definitely prefer to pay les than $50 if possible. I want a pair of headphones that will give me quality sounds from a portable CD player that i can take around with me around school or wherever, so I probably don't want something incredibly bulky. So do you guys think you can help me out?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

i think the ksc35s are generally the best for ur price range

im sure many others would agree, if they can beat wicked neo to the thread lol. PM a guy named gluegun, hes the headphones guy round here and he is very nice. im sure he'll help!

Hmm... i'm not sure those are what i'm exactly after... are they really that good? They don't really look up to much

Posted by eXeTik on Jul-18-2002 08:35:

I use MDR-W08, works fine with my hardtrance addiction which produces some heavy bassline and massive sounds... pretty cheap too

Posted by halo99 on Jul-18-2002 17:06:

Hrmm... I cant find the MDR-W08's anywhere. when i do a google search I got like 35 results, they're not for sale anywhere (nor have I found a picture). Are they not in production anymore?

Posted by halo99 on Jul-19-2002 00:59:

Okay, i think i found them at bestbuy.com

They don't look up to much... are they really worth it (Even if they are only $10)?

Posted by lMIlk on Jul-19-2002 01:14:

from my experiences anything less then 20 bucks is complete crap...if ur budget is 50 bucks get the sony ex70's.

Posted by PhaseFour on Jul-19-2002 05:17:

they are supposedly the best sounding cans in your price range...ive treid them at a buddys house and they arent bad. its quite a difficult budget to work on sorry. i hear that aiwa is coming out with new earbuds, the VX100s, thatll beat both (my) e888s and the mx500s. sorry that i couldnt be of much help to ya

btw try www.audiocubes.com

The Sony MDR-V6 (not v600), when I bought it, was $57 US... it may be less price right now.
www.etronics.com has them for $59 (where I bought from). You can also do a price check on shopping.yahoo.com and search for Sony V6.

These are really great headphones, anyone that has tried them on these boards will most likely agree with me, they are a HUGE bargain considering the sound quality you get for the price.

If you need more information, or are looking for different headphones, you have 2 highly recommended options
1) Send a PM to the user Gluegun on these forums, he is a headphone conaseur, he is the knower of all things headphone!
2) Head over to www.head-fi.org it is a website/forum based on headphones, you will get lots of help here, they are friendly and informative folks.

Hope that helps you.

this thread would be best suited for the dj forum
you'll get more of a response there

Posted by halo99 on Jul-21-2002 05:43:

I have heard about the V6's, and am aware not to get them mixed up with other, less quality headphones
I will look into them

I did PM Gluegun awhile ago, but alas, no reply

Posted by arturob on Jul-21-2002 05:52:

hello,

I have MDR-V6 and Sennheiser HD280. and for my personal experience, I rather use the V6. SOund quality is way better than HD280`s.

Hope this help.

Many Greetings,

f0x

really?

people seem to have different opinions on the 2 fones, I take it u've had a lot of music going thro the V6's? One of my m8's got a pair and they dont sound as good as my 280's, they got about 70 hours thro em.

Posted by Gluegun on Jul-23-2002 05:00:

Well, the 280's have a few, ah, burn in and quality control problems....

Sometimes, one is better than the other, other times, it's the other way around.

However, from what I hear, the 280 has much more POTENTIAL to sound good than the V6.

i was looking to upgrade my phones in a while... i was looking at either the hd280 or the hd 20s i believe is the "dj" headphone that sennheiser makes

Posted by Gluegun on Jul-23-2002 05:54:

The two models are the "Sennheiser HD280 Pro" and the "Sennheiser HD25". Remember, with Sennheiser, you have to go by EXACT model number, cause there are too many models with similar numbers.. but far worse performance.

Gluegun! Do you know any stores online where i can get spares for my sennheiser hd25? I'm tryin to get new pads and the cable.
