Coachella Reviews???

What does everyone that went to Coachella have to say about this past weekend? This includes artists, the event itself, camping...etc..

I went thursday night to the campsite to begin the party early. In which it was insanely crowded. They promised a 10 x 30 ft campsite. It was more like 7 ft by 15 ft. There was no room to move around or anything. THey packed everyone in like sardines. The shower situation was ridiculous, not even worth going there. The good is that everyone was in such a good mood. Everyone was partying, having a good time and really friendly. My neighbors walked up to me and handed me a joint within 2 minutes of meeting them. Anyways. The camping stage was great the first night then got progressively worse. They needed more house and techno. It was all dubstep.

The event itself was alrite. I feel like it was skimp-chella this year. Not as fun of art instillations to walk around and explore. The artists were very commercial this year. Especially electronica. There were so many people this year. It was like a huge rave. All younger kids ranging from 15 -24 average. and all were just trying to get fucked up... Not even 3 years ago it was much different from this. Beyond the artists sucking it was just a whatever event. I really was disappointed this year. Although I had a great time and made the best of it. It was not as good as i expected it to be.

Artist-wise:

Plastikman aka Richie Hawtin killed it! Threw down soooooo sick! He had this awesome LED display that was just out of this world. Best set i heard all weekend.

Tom Yhorke was also a great artist. My second favorite. Man knows how to play music.

Mimosa was the best dubstep I heard all week. It actually has musical components in the dubstep and not all bass and grime.

Sly stone did not show.

Phoenix was also very good.

Muse was excellent. They are such a good band. PROPS to them.

Tiesto was eh. The first time he played at coachella was soooooo fucking insane and this time he didnt bring it. Played almost every song off of kaleidascope. eh =/ but he did throw down adaigo and i think madagascar. but it was overall not tooo bad although i wish it was harder since he was closing out the mainstage for 100000 ppl.

overall it was an intense weekend but goldenvoice needs to get their shit together and not try to become the "coolest music festival" . stop blowing it up and making it a trend. put the soul back into the festival and stop focusing on numbers you greedy bastards. next year you need some original electronica acts like the previous years.

i could go on but i am burnt out still. lol.. hope to see some other reviews.

my review along with one or two others are in this thread:

i agree with you on the camping stage dubstep issue. i don't understand how that can be all they play...

when it comes to the art installations - i kind of agree. i wish that fire breathing dragon was still there. remember the one? it used to be where the 40 foot fire pillar was this year (which was kind of weak). that recycled zen art between the mojave and gobi wasn't so bad it ended up being my primary meeting place. either that or directly under the beak of the crane.

everybody at camping was really nice, naturally. walking around at night i met and talked to tons of people.

i heard phoenix was pretty good - i also heard they may very well have drawn the biggest crowd of the festival (i'm assuming this would exclude gorillaz though). i caught their first track (listomania) before heading over to get a good spot for pavement. they were the only band i bothered to try to get really close to this year haha

phoenix was really fucking good. the crowd was just bigger than tom yhorkes but i honestly dont know if i will go back next year unless they really do something different. goldenvoice seriously dropped the ball on this coachella.
