Who plays who wants to play. Whats your rating.


I just started playing the past year. I'm not that good my yahoo rating has dropped to around 1000. (kind of shit).

If anyone plays or likes to play post in this thread.

Post your rating as well.

I do enjoy chess but I'm very bad. My Yahoo rating is 1236. I would play, but I only had two hours of sleep on someone's couch last night so I'm not in the right state for it.

Don't play on Yahoo, sometimes on FICS as a guest. As a matter of fact, right now...

Edit: forgot to mention, I could probably beat everyone here without looking at the board.

I'm a good player (well that's very relative), I've played yahoo but not anymore. Takes too much of my time, I'm very competitive and it puts a drain on my mental energies that I choose to use in other areas of my life. I've also found the game can bring out animosity in people who care too much of their ranking, and tends to be a proxy for the release of people anger, or a proving ground for I'm smarter and better than you.

So no I don't play.

Used to play back in the day. my rating was about 14-1500, but I doubt that�s in any way accurate.

Chess is a great prelude to sex.

there is so much sexual innuendo going on in the game
not even in terms of the vocab, but the idea of strategy and going in for the kill, distracting your opponent

I used to love playing chess, I was the captain of my chess team in 5th grade I never played seriously after that, though, mostly just random pickup games with my brother.

has a way better inteface for the way the chess board looks and works(I think interface is the computer word for it?)..check it out!! I haven't played in 2 or 3 years, highest I been was 1700 but that is Pogo ratings. Translate that to real ratings, maybe 1400 or 1500 at my best but check out www.pogo.com

BTW you used to be able to chat in the lobby and in the game room but it seems those features were abused and now no longer.

Hold a second, let me check, I remember when they got rid of the chat especially in the Chess forum because a lot of trash talk would go down because like IGK said it is a game that boils down to who is the smartest also a lot of people use programs to get their master ratings, I am sure this is the same at any Internet site for Chess. Some legit sites have auto-programs finders but if a person is manually running just a Chess Master 10th Edition in a side window you can make it look like you are thinking but really just waiting for your program to reply with what it thinks is the best move.

Yes, I am still correct you can NOT talk in the Chess lobby or while at the Chess board, people can still watch games but no more talking. This is what I was explaining about ^^ up there, I remember the trash talk the people chating in the room giving other people good or bad advice ..etc

edit: I'm wrong, you can chat again. Back 2 or 3 years ago the chat would just show up and that was the case, then it got taken away and it's been about 2 years since I been on that site exception of right now and NOW I see the little tabs that you click to allow yourself to see the chat in the lobbies and in the actualy board room. Rock on!! Chat is back or did it ever go away?.. was I just to unfocused to see the little tabs before I stopped playing lol. I used to hang out in the Advanced room called: "A Clockwork Orange" that's where all the program players and real Chess masters and fans of watching good matches are at, basiclly that room is the cOr of Pogo Chess.

i've played on pogo, yahoo, and others in the past. currently i play on chess.com
My rating right now is around 1600 but I time out of way too many of my games (about a quarter...) Why don't we organize something, though?

I'm in Pogo right now, I see I have exactly 8,155 games under my belt but my rating is at 1400? I play more speed Chess is my problem 4 minute games, I used to be really good at making fast decent moves but it's been 2 or 3 years since I played so I want to empyithize that and the fact the game almost looks foreign to me right now.

I used to play a lot with my dad in coffee shops but I'm horrible. I only beat him once in my life.

Every time we would play he would put the black and white pieces in each hand and have me pick one and I'd be that color. I would always choose my color before I picked and oddly enough I got the color I picked every singe time. We must have played over 30 games and I'm 100% guessing the color I wanted.

Good at guessing, suck at chess. lol
