yup. I'm on spareboard (filling in for sick calls) for 6 weeks. It got me weekends off, so it's worth it imo

you're on spareboard for the first 3 months you work there.. it's considered bitch work, lol. not knowing what shift you are working in 24 hours sucks

I think our terminology differs a little bit. Spareboard for us means calling in the day before and asking when you work (95% of the time you'll get work). We call what you just described as being "on report". You can only get that if you're on spareboard and it usually only happens a few times a month if you're on spareboard for the whole period. Even if you end up "on report" the chances are still pretty slim that you won't be working
