Let's stereotype! Who's the worst drivers?

Sometimes I am reminded that there are a reason for the development of stereotypes. I find that even women admit that women are the worst drivers; across the board they seem to be less attentive, and more easily distracted with cell phones, makeup, radio tuning, dancing, etc. compared to their male counterparts.

But this can even be broken up into sub-groups. I thought teenage girls were the worst. Then black women (regardless of age). I soon realized, after my Asian buddy pointed this out, that Asian women are actually the worst drivers.... what do you think based on driving experience? Check this out:

quote:
A South Korean woman who took 960 attempts to earn her driver's license is now planning to buy a car and get behind the wheel.

The Yonhap news agency reported on Thursday that 69-year-old Cha Sa-soon passed the driving part of the test last month on her 10th try. South Korea requires a written test first, and Cha took it nearly every day since April 2005 before passing last year.

Yonhap quoted her as saying she wanted to buy a small second-hand car to visit her son and daughter, and for her business selling vegetables.

What could go wrong?

Every man thinks that the women in his own country/culture are the worst drivers. Only in countries with vast cultural diversity as the US, can you judge who's actually worse.

indians/pakistanis

here, they don't have licenses as a whole, and do ridiculous things, although many drivers are idiots nowadays. Like the one girl from ind/pak who tried to do a 3 point turn in the middle of rush hour traffic and ended up mounting the kerb 3 times, nearly hitting 2 more cars and driving off as if nothing was wrong. Ironically, she lives about 300 yards from the local police station.

I've been to a fair few countries and the worst driving I've seen have been in Belgium, Kenya and America (Florida to be more specific, right up and down the state). Are Florida drivers representative of general US drivers? I don't know.

Have you ever watched traffic in Indian cities? It is both hypnotic and terrifying. Almost no stop-lights in intersections and yet it continues unabated.

I've yet to witness Indian city driving, I can't say it's on my list of things to do, though. Either way, it does look rather horrific.

I've been hit twice. Once by a fat white guy who jerked into my lane and sideswiped me, once by a skinny black guy who ran a red and t-boned me. They say men are statistically the worst drivers. I'm inclined to agree.

Florida is pretty representative I'd say. Worst place in the US I've driven is either New York City, Miami, or the Korean district outside of Atlanta.

Statistics indicate that men are more inclined to be involved in more damaging accidents, likely due to reckless speeding - as far as insurance companies are concerned, they are of a slightly higher liability due to the sheer damage estimate. But I think that women are statistically involved in more accidents, they just tend to be more low-profile, low-speed incidents. I could be wrong, but that was my understanding as to why I pay so goddamned much per month.

That's very true.

Though, they are actually pretty good drivers. If they weren't, they wouldn't survive in that environment.

it might be difficult to drive in new york, especially as an outsider, unfamiliar with the unspoken rules of the road there...but i'd say that on the whole, new york drivers are actually much better drivers than elsewhere in the country. you just need to recognize that if you want to change lanes, the last thing you do is signal. and you need to be able to drive aggressively or you won't ever get anywhere.

i'm here in LA now and LA drivers disgust me. when it starts drizzling outside traffic literally stops. and the freeways are just terrible - you get where you want to go a lot quicker if you never leave the right lane. the left lane seems to be the slowest most frequently. can't tell you how many times i've passed a guy on the right, looked over into his range rover and saw a guy typing away on two phones, maybe even a laptop. or a woman with big ugly sunglasses and a dog on her lap.

long story short. new yorkers know how to drive. people in LA don't.
