Man, this is batshit crazy, we gotta beat Spain to make sure we dont have to face Brazil in the 1st round? VAMOS CHILE!

The Spaniards are contenders for the WC holders. This group is a training ground for them.
I think Chile will take 2nd though Switzerland is strong as well.

I think Chile's chances have been severely hurt with Suazo's injury.

Dont think it turned out to be that serious. Reports say that the meds expect him to be fit for the opener.

Spain all the way! They have an incredible team.

Germany is still my #1 (as they've been for years) but I love Spain equally. They also deserve it.

Suazo is expected to play against Honduras. Chile came strong with 2nd place after Brazil, beating Argentina in the Qualifications.
I can be certain Chile will not be an easy one for Spain.

We Won.
Excited for Switzerland's match now. We won on friendly game, we should do well with them ( Suazo should be back )

It really looked like they took today match with this mentality.

Not really. Switzerland played a tight game which was really uncomfortable for Spain. They were playing for a 0-0 game and see if they could get a lucky chance on goal. They did and they made it count. Almost got a second goal in, Spain got lucky on that one. In the same way that Switzerland got lucky that Xabi Alonso's strike from outside the box hit the post, and Navas' shot went millimeters wide.

Also, Del Bosque made the same stupid mistake that Bert van Marwijk made on Holland's opening game. He modified his system to accommodate for a player's absence (in this case, Torres) instead of putting in another player in the same position. As if Spain didn't have enough quality forwards to choose from. Another mistake is not to allow Xavi and Iniesta to take full creative control as they do in Barcelona. He could easily ditch Alonso in favor of Pedro who can act just as well as a striker than as a winger.

Yeah, but what I meant is that Spain played with the wrong mentality. They wanted to shine and forgot to score, when is the latter that matters. As Inter and the Swiss team showed you can have all the possession you want in 95 minutes, but if you have nothing to show for it at the end it's useless.
Agree with your tactical assessment as well. Alonso and Busquest were just stepping over each other feets in the first half, when it was clear the Swiss team would have defended and mostly played for the draw.

Penalty

Gelson's Fernndez offside (goal)

I'm not worried about lost match last Wednesday. At least we are going to reach the final. I said. It is very sad seeing teams that are playing with 10 defenders. Really boring!

Posted by Trancefxs on Jun-18-2010 13:33:

They never give a soft penalty like the first one and the second goal would have been a clear penalty before that controversial offside (you can only see it with the tv slowmotion).

CHILEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good to see Spain top the group and avoid Brazil in the next round. That match is worthy of a world cup final.

That said, Im even happier to see the Swiss go out. Never seen such a negative team in my life (even Greece would accuse them of playing anti-football) .

Fifa should send them through a crash course in football 101 explaining to them that the objective is to score goals, not ensure that none are scored against you and give them an ultimatum that they will be kicked out of Brazil 2014 (assuming they qualify) if they don't average a goal a game in the group stages. That's to straight world cups they'v turned into a snooze fest.

Villa scored the funniest goal of the tournament It felt like beign on the playground. Used to score with the boys back when we were kids.
