Luke is laidback about everything except music. Named best producer of 2008 by such qualified house maestros as David Guetta, Martin Solveig and Roger Sanchez, and landing an impressive new entry � voted # 46 � in DJ magazine�s Top 100 DJs Poll, it�s clear that Holland�s homeboy is on the rise like never before. It�s why he�s been bustin� up bassbins from the Americas to Ibiza. Why he was selected to ignite the Stealth Live! CD series with a near perfect club mix. Why his party, Nighttime Superheroes, is such a winner. Why he was snapped up for a weekly mix show by French station Radio FG. And why he was invited by the UK�s Pete Tong to complete an Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1. Sure it�s been a long time coming (over a decade now) but Luke�s stratospheric success befits his world-beating talents and is ripe to reach new levels of hotness in 2009!

Laidback Luke (Luke van Scheppingen) was born in Manila, Philippines, but grew up in the Netherlands. He loved guitars, graffiti, hip-hop and house, and soon found a mentor in DJ/producer Dobre (The Good Men, Chocolate Puma). Luke was just a teenager when he began producing music, taking the �laid back� tag from Snoop Dogg�s �Gin & Juice�. Yet by 1995 he was putting out tracks; and from 96 he was remixing for established artists like Green Velvet, Victor Calderone and Junior Sanchez, in addition to DJing professionally. The thriller from Manila proved to be a natural born killer behind the decks. Once beating a Dutch DMC champ in battle, Luke got to show the world how he rolls with CDJs �n� EFX: rinsing every mix, building energy, skilfully fusing an array of old new skool flavours, edits, bootlegs and a cappellas into a slick signature style. He even released an album, Psyched U, in 1999. But it wasn�t until Virgin signed Luke�s seminal single �Rocking With The Best� and released his 2002 album, Electronic Satisfaction, that his profile really soared. Luke�s Dance Valley anthem, �We Can Not Get Enough�, then blew up as a chart hit. He also mixed his first compilation album, Windmill Skill. His discography was therefore looking seriously prolific as he remixed Daft Punk (who were a huge early influence), Murk, Oliver Lieb and Tom Stephan. And to up the output in 2004, Luke introduced his own label, Mixmash.

More club-shaking times lie ahead for Luke with his non-stop DJ schedule, studio collaborations including David Guetta, and that all-important third solo album on the horizon� At this point, scrolling through his achievements may be exhausting enough, but imagine living that diary/discography. His secret? Well, besides being a nighttime superhero, a clue is in the martial arts that he practises. Yes, Luke has good �kung fu�, always keeping an ear to the ground while his music surges skywards!

Ruby is cool yo. They allow ins & outs as long as you get your stamp. Even better if you have a hotel nearby. Pretty cool staff. Some cool peeps but you will run across the occasional douche bag (such as myself). Hopefully I'll be in town that weekend to meet up with ya and have a drink

i'm a huge fan of LBL so been waiting for him to come to ruby for ages (he played vessel last year). and unlike dj chuckie this past saturday, he should play a more cohesive set.

gotta love his production workflow too... completes tracks in 4 hours all in fruity loops:

Gonna check him out in Vegas on the 27th...still have never partied in SF.

fly up! you can get a flight out of LA area friday after 7pm and return early monday on one of uniteds e-fares. ~$130 roundtrip

Its going to be a reallllyyyy good show so its worth while being in town haha

He doesn't talk about it much, but he uses Abelton now he switched over recently. He stuck with FL for ageeees, but he finally gave in to Ableton for a reason

I will also see him at EDC and Vegas. Like Omar stated flights are cheap, i booked mine for $140 round trip!

If you get a hotel, check out Warkwick SF at 490 Geary. Literally, 1 block down and 1/2 block up from Ruby and right by Union Square.

Get a petite suite, they have balconies overlooking Geary. ($159)

Its a little boutique hotel...really good staff.

We always stay there when we go to SF.

Thanks for the input, i am looking into everything right now.

I am not sure if i am staying just fri, but it looks like i might stay until Sunday so something like this will come in handy.

Myself personally i can motel 6 it to be honest, because i mean really i am just going to use the hotel to nap and shower. Thats extra money i can spend elsewhere. But since i might stay until Sunday, something like this would work out.

Union Square hotel - $79/night. walk around the corner to ruby
Hotel Diva - $118/night (I can prob find a cheap rate with a 20% off coupon if I look through my emails)
Hote Adagio - $89/night
Touchstone Hotel - $89
King George - $92/night

I can't vouch for the Union Square hotel, but know peopel on here have stayed at it. That's actually expensive for it I think but it's jUly 4th weekend.

Hotel Diva is great.
Touchstone is decent
King George is old fashion, but nice and clean.

Just look on bing.com/travel
click hotels
put in san francisco and let it load
on left side, click on "enter an address" and put in 420 Mason St (Ruby Skye's addy)..enter it, be patient. it'll then ask you to verify the address and just click on it..and let it all load again
sort by distance.
see which hotels are closest to ruby

Then look to see if there are coupons for any of those hotels. or any of the travel places you book through. You can prob get a little more off with some.

I can get you the Omni for $199 and 2nd night is free. I'll let you know later in the week if im in. But you can have to free night code I have and book it if you wish.

also dave, the union square plaza is actually pretty chill. stayed there prez day weekend found a $45 a night rate so did 4 days.

YOu have to book between sunday and thursday for that warwick $95/night deal. Doesn't do any good for friday/sat nights. at least on july 4th weekend. they say weekends are slightly more...ok, so ther is prob still a discount but $145/night (cheapest for nights of july 2nd and 3rd) isn't slightly more.

The Onyx show was over 2 years ago, why would someone that can't pack a venue be a headliner on the main stage at EDC?

Voyeur sold out, and Avalon was packed. He is growing at an insane pace. Your just mad your not going, or are you?

actually that Onyx show was last year in April but since then he has blown...he has more fans on twitter than Angello does and that is a big deal.

voyeur is as big as a crackerjack box. avalon is always packed, they could have dj luxor there and it would get full.

i'm just saying the crowd on friday will overwhelmingly be there because its friday night.
take a survey at the door and ask the patrons what their fave lbl track is and what their fave remix is.

and FYI, the onyx show was late april of last year.

oh and for 4th, im supposed to get half the room costs next week, if i dont, im up for SF. u still want that omni deal($99/night)?

Okay he sucks has no pull whatever. But at Nocturnal, his arena was PACKED while he played. While Green Velvet (before) and Dirty South (after) played the crowd wasn't there. Why during was the crow spilling outside of the tent?

Youtube his recent gigs, hes selling out venues all over the world. Even has a residency in Ibiza. But its okay, i get your point he has no pull. I don't want to argue, i did that already over the phone with my x

luke is big in europe and gets exposure at the socal massives.

that doesnt translate into having a big night in sf.

there are another 2 very well known house dj's(bigger than LBL), who i will keep anonymous, that had SF gigs a few years ago did not draw at all...
1 has not returned.
1 has returned and draw has been magnificent.

i'm just saying its different in sf...
