It's raining ashes!

So one of the volcanoes that's about 60km away from the city is erupting right now and it's raining ashes. The volcano can be seen and heard from my house and it's quite a fantastic view.

Come on man! You can't speak of fantastic views and not take pictures!

Posted by woscar on May-28-2010 02:13:

I'll try...the only camera I have right now is the one from my cell phone.

Posted by Ygrene on May-28-2010 02:14:

My God, quit being an ashhole and post pics!

Posted by woscar on May-28-2010 02:36:

I took some pictures, but the ones from the volcano can't be seen, sorry.

My camera's too shitty. Could have used one of Stu's supermegaawesome cams

Hold on a sec while I upload them.

Posted by tubularbills on May-28-2010 02:45:

yeah dammit. go play in the ashes and post pics

Posted by woscar on May-28-2010 02:49:

This is the stuff that's been raining for over an hour. Everything outside is literally covered in a thick layer of this.

This is a pic I tried to take from the volcano, but it doesn't show properly. It's that red light on the top middle. The sight to the naked eye is fucking awesome though.

I will be able to get some really awesome pics tomorrow morning though.

It's 79 AD all over again. Run for the hills

This had already happened like 12 years ago, but this time it's worse. There's a layer of about 1/2 a centimeter thick covering everything. It looks like black snow.

That is what u get for living near a volcano

Posted by woscar on May-28-2010 03:14:

There's 23 volcanoes in Guatemala, so anywhere you live in the country you are bound to live near a volcano.

Here's another pic I found

Did you know that shit can cave in a roof if it piles up enough?

Yes, they're already evacuating people from various zones around the volcano. I can't imagine how many poor people are going to lose their homes.

I just realized... My mom's in Guatamala for vacation this week

No one's died, right?
