Whats the most useless thing you have in your studio?

With regard to music of course.

I'll go first, a Playstation 3 in close second is the box set of family guy both of which detract from the point of the room.

I have a waldorf blofeld that was given as a gift. Tried selling it on ebay but no luck. I use it as a paper weight.

wow thats an original thread!

- alesis 3630 analog compressor. fucking useless peace of shit (imo).
- allen&heath xone32, i hope to get use for it later as i love djeing.
- uc33e midicontroller, it doesnt even have keys, nor inbuild soundcard, terrible imo.
- Cortex Mix R1U (2ch 1HE rack mixer), crappy mixer, and now that i got the Xone whats the fucking point keeping this?
- ESI nEar 05 Experience monitors, useless compared to my HiFi.
- Stands for the monitors. My HiFi has floorstanders.
- Huge amount of audiocables and midicables. I dont even have external gear anymore. USELESS!

To explain a little: my "studio" is currently my apartment livingroom and alot of these things is just laying around in closets or sheds collecting dust and annoying me. Im currently using only a laptop and wireless sound to my stereo or headphones. Not really creative. I sometime connect my Echo Audiofire 4 to my stereo to get better sound but its actually pretty useless that too atm. I hope this place burns down to the ground.

Some day soon i hope to get a bigger apartment where i can have a separate studiodesk/room away from my stereo somewhere else than the livingroom. I might get the use of the monitors and the stands, and the echo audiofire then but i will probably upgrade anyway so i might as well just get rid of it all right now. Thanks for reminding me

- launchpad
Got one 3 or 4 months now. Used it twice.
- focusrite liquid mix
Great piece of kit. But somehow I don't use it.
- Virus KC
A pimped out midi controller keyboard the way I use it.

Over the years, I've got rid of everything I found to be "useless" so now I'm just left with things that get used less than others. At the top of my list is my Virus TI Polar, surprisingly enough. I just find myself reaching out to Massive and Sylenth1 first for all my synthesizing needs. Sometimes I just force myself to use the TI to justify the money I spent on it.

it is rather sad how hardware is just too much hassle. I tested out the blofeld and it sounds great but I just couldn't be bothered with the clumsy editing when the sounds can be achieved to a close enough degree with software.

got the same experience with MicroQ and Virus Rack. sold it all. The clavia was a little better/more intuitive though. i sold it all anyway.

Emu esi4000 turbo sampler. Holy shit have these kinds of samplers been obsoleted by software. It had nice filters though. But no way in hell am I ever gonna import seperate samples via floppy disk ever again. Useless!

Congratulations!

I used to have the CD/R - forgot what brand. But by today's standards - totally useless.

I'll gladly take the before mentioned Virus C and Blofeld.

My most useless piece of equipment is a rack-on-wheels. It stands about four feet tall and can hold about four to six synths. Currently it's holding a kitty calendar and a roll of duct tape. Maybe someday I'll fill it with a Voyager, JP8080, and a few other gadgets that will also be useless since I'll mostly never use them.

What he said!

:

Oh and this...

Native Instruments Kontrol X1 - Don't wanna deal with carrying extra stuff to gigs.
Akai MPD24 - Never used it.
M-Audio Radium 49 - Never use it. I dunno how to play the keyboard. It's intimidating.
M-Audio Firewire 410 - All my stuff is USB, so this became obsolete.
Behringer BCF2000 - Never got it to work proper.
DJ Hero - The Playstation is in my niece's room!
Rob Papen's Predator - I find my self using NI's stuff & Sylenth a lot more.
Reason 3 - Never learned it.
Cubase Studio 4 - Never learned it.
Logic - Went halfers with a friend of mine but never learned it. Feel a lot more comfortable with Ableton.
Traktor Scratch Pro - All my gigs have Serato installed, so I yet to use Traktor Live.
