1. basically it offers protections but also is no nonsense if you don't own it up to 5000$ fines and they range in the "realistic" level of $100-$5000. for file sharers in canada this could effect a new ruling that previously allowed canadians to download without issue..... the big download loophole in Canada. Now ISP's need to inform their downloaders under the new act.

2. pardons are being changed for some crimes and time limits are suppose to change to 5 and 10 years rather than 3 and 5. Some crimes will no longer be pardonable

I honestly wonder how long will this stuff go on for. Say if for example every Internet user (millions - or billions now - of people) did some pirating. Does it make sense to throw every one of them in prison or change the laws to take into account the fact of life that pirating occurs, it doesn't really hurt people as much as some insist, and it simply can't be stopped or would cost trillions of dollars to stop completely? Pirating is nothing like committing murder, raping someone, or any 'real crimes' yet there are plenty of people doing more time for violating IP laws than others who murdered people. Does that make any sense at all?

I see taking someone's life away as a far greater crime than pirating possibly every single piece of IP the world has ever known.

Boy I can't wait till open source takes over and maybe makes everything free. Imagine open source fabrication of physical items, not just software.
