Found Atlantis - Return To Nexus 1999 [goa/breeder/prog/dino-trance]

got back into actually listening to trance after accidentally stumbling upon an old paul oakenfold mixtape on the internets and decided to put together a proper dance/trance/prog mix that doesnt sound like anything from the present. like a time warp to 15 years ago..when trance was progressive and house was...house?

the mixing isnt \o/ but it gets better on as i get into it

oh its only 128kbps but i dont care.

BT Loving You More (BT's Garden Of Ima Dub)
Orbital Nothing Left (Breeder Remix)
Breeder - The Chain
Grace - Not Over Yet (Breeder's 'It Is Now' Remix)
Highland - No Way Out (Highland Dub)
Tastexperience - Summersault
Velvet Girl - Summertime (Chiba Remix)
Red Sign - Wonderland
X-Cabs - Infectious (Original Mix 2)
Our House - Floorspace '99 (Pee Wee Ferris Mix)
Grace - Skin On Skin (Man With No Name Remix)
Man With No Name - Vavoom!
Woomera - Retro Euro Vibe Peace (Leisure Lounge Edit)
DJ Quicksilver - Planet Love (Groove Planet Remix)
Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar (Pure Nova & DJ Eyal Project Remix)

Fits on a CD but im too lazy to make a .cue file for it

it was a track that i'd been meaning to play in a long time but couldnt find a setting in which i could apply this.

so i never really play trance as much as i used to and figured its a good time to compile a proggy sort of set (it ended up as some sort of prog goa thing but ah well)

it starts off pretty slow but by the end im bouncing around a bit and getting jiggy with it

hope you enjoy the track selections sushi/lews, its somewhat of a delicacy nowadays

graaaaaaavy

Absolutely delicious. Everything in here is just jam-packed with nostalgia, lots of tasty housey vibes with a hint of trance and just enough drugs injected for a goa feel. It was very bouncy and fun, almost like a clubby sound. I don't have a lot to say about the technical aspects. I thought your mixing was pretty outstanding, and the flow had a clear direction from club house to trance. The last two tracks had me reaching for the lasers with some awesome uplifting styles \o/ Gorgeous set, it worked perfectly for me. This is how a DJ should play trance at a club. Outstanding.

Oh, and obligatory random picture.

haha. dope. glad you enjoyed it zipnf! club nostalgia with a hint of house/goa...just what a growing boy needs. oh and plenty of 5-htp the mixing wasnt very technical, i thought to keep it simple and focus more on the music! crabs with fags. i like this.

thanks again for the kind words brother (i will pop elemental on when i get back)

meanwhile..

breeder mix of not over yet = automatic win
i love that oakey era, listening now and dancing away in my chair haha

Posted by Magadansky on Jun-10-2010 17:49:

Enjoyed it last night, at low volume though so I cant really say much about the technical aspects. The track selection was awesome though. Gonna preserve it for further listens.

Posted by KilldaDJ on Jun-12-2010 19:43:

haha schweet. i can agree that this can be enjoyed at lower volumes for the first half but ideally, a few decibels louder would be optimal

track selection is what this mix is about, trying to preserve the music scene from about 10 years ago, carefully placing tracks and not showing any glimpse of the future.

again, i do apologise for the shite quality, for some reason it wouldnt encode any higher than 128 so i though fuck it, its better than 56 or whatever shit it was offering me.

glad yous enjoyed it magadansky, im tucking into the chillout mixes in yo thred when im having a day off.

here...have another random image i find on internets.

I liked this. Very enjoyable

I must say I don't listen to many of the mixes on this forum but I had a listen to this. The track selection is really good. Some personal favourites of mine. The mixing however is not as good as the track selection. The first transition is solid. But the mixing from The Chain-> Not over Yet is more or less non existing?
There are also some other transitions which are really weak.
But overall an enjoyable mix thanks to the track selection.

Posted by KilldaDJ on Jun-23-2010 19:47:

thanks for listening guise

i must admit, the mixing is pretty atrocious in this mix. for the first half, my excuse is that it was alot 'slower' so making a nice smooth transition is imo a lot more difficult, especially if the keys dont match. i'd much prefer doing quick transitions say for example a hard trance mix. tasty hasty. smells like lavender.

the second half is my favorite, the club-bangers come into play here but equally i love all the tracks. the pitch thing was my lame attempt of adding 'pace' to the mix (it wasnt a test to see who actually listened to it ), it would of been too slow otherwise by the time i got to the MWNN tracks. VAVOOM-yea boiii. i think i got the phrase mixing right but as for harmonically mixing tracks, i just get lucky with them!

thanks again for the comments and having a listen!! the mixing is shit but the tracks are definitely nostalgic and everyone who is a 'trance' fan should indulge.

Yeah, I've listened to this a few times now. Really love all the tracks (clearly), but the mixing is pretty damn bad :P

Still, all in all, it's a fun mix

Posted by KilldaDJ on Jun-24-2010 06:09:

haha thanks lews, i had a great time putting this one together

tbh i'll probably stray from trance for a while...i feel a trip-hoppy mix coming zoon.

thanks fo droppin by
