Read This!

Have any djs here gotten a problem on their most played vinyl where the vinyl sorta warps into a (very)slight cone shape and when you touch the vinyl it slips more then normal played on a certain side and sometimes does not play because it slips so much on the slipmat? What can I do about it? flattening techniques don't help much.
Any help would be appreciated.

either don't touch the record directly - manipulate the platter / spindle / pitch fader (pitch bending) ... or you could get two flat pieces of glass and sandwich your record in between ... then put the whole thing either in an oven at about 120F / 50 C for a few minutes, or in the sun for a while, then let it cool. Never tried it myself but it did work for a lot of people.

Smile thanks

what do you recommend as a manipulation alternative?

practice to where you can control the beat matchin with the pitch control only...no spindle grabs or record taps...its pretty damn hard actually....takes natural talent [which i seem to have none of]

I had the same god damn problem, and the record would play out of order because it was slipping too much. So I used the supplied rubber mats that come with most turntables. The only problem is that you can't really scratch the record as easily because of friction, but at least it plays as it should.
I hope it helps..

Cool

Well, here's one suggestion. Take a cocktail glass...the kind with the heavy base on it. Turn it upsidedown and put it on the center of your record. That usually does the trick.

P.S. Make sure the glass is empty first!!!
