DJ Soulstone - Promised Land [Full-On / Goa-Trance]

Hey fellow Trance-Heads!
It's been a long time since I last found a real motivation to mix. The more popular way of Trance has lost me as a fan, which meant I had to find a new way to get into Trance on the dancefloor. Well, Psy-/Goa-Trance is what I found. And that's what I gonna mix then.
So this is my first honest attempt to mix this genre, what I had to do with one side "self-made" dvs and the other side a CDJ 200, since I didn't get a second one yet. Anyway, enjoy the ride into the promised land!

Can't Wait to hear this I see you went the same way I did going into Goa And psy, Mind you, I've never done the two styles in the same set. Should be interesting

Very nice mix

mixing was not too bad.

the transition into the goa half was very smooth.

The style of the first half is a combination of progPsy at the start, then psytrance.

looking foward to your next mix

Holy crap, how did I miss this?

May be because I'm not such an active writer and I don't push my own threads usually...

Okay, so the set is good, but your mixing is a bit clicky and not 100% beatmatched at times (at least in the first 3-4 tracks). This makes your transitions a lot more noticeable. The tunes were nice, I liked the harder psy stuff in the beginning. On Fire was a nice little trip through memory lane, and the mix into Open Society was actually very good. However, the Astral Projection track alone was not enough to transition into the Goa section. I felt it was a bit of a flow killer when the first E-Mantra track popped in, just a totally different atmosphere that changed up the progression of the mix in quite an odd way.

Honestly, I probably would have been happier if the Goa was either first, or separated into a different mix. Preferably the latter, since the two styles were so contrasting. I thought you had a good thing going with the first part, and while the energy was still pretty high, the atmosphere changed dramatically when you started playing Goa. The last two tracks were quite strong! Almost a psyish feel. The Goa was dreamy and melodic, quite lush, but ultimately left me with mixed feelings about the set in general.

Thanks for sharing anyways! Do you plan on sharing more mixes in the future?

Thanks, zip. You pointed out pretty much those critical points that I have myself about the mix. But as long as I don't have a second CDJ, my transitions won't improve.
I try to combine different (but related) styles into one set, but I realise that I need longer sets for such. Also I'm still short on proper tracks that border between psy and goa. There definately will come more mixes by me in future!
