The last ride of Aqvayak
Hello boys and girls.
I just wanted to keep you abreast of the beast.
We have this great party planned just a month away and it should be massive. Maybe too massive. 750 people already confirmed and a site that holds far less. No security and no assurances that the cops wont show up.
I just wanted you all to know what you were in for. We have had problems in the past with a small amount of things : fighting being the big one. Last year a fight broke out and it was too much to stop. Luckily the combatants were honorable and let it go after one was felled. make no mistake: this is anarchy, the wild west and every unbelievable party you ever heard of happening 'back in the day' all rolled into one.
On the other hand, this will be my last party as a DJ. I am officially retired after Pheonix 2010 and Shawn may continue on next year. I wish him the best because he is the best. Ten years of DJing means I have seen alot of shit. I have made many friends, played at many great parties, but also lost friends and played out to empty rooms. The radio show I did for 3 years was both exhausting and soul fulfilling. But the bullshit, the constant struggling and fighting, watching trainwreckers ruin great parties and seeing friends like Danny Taylor and Vlado, better Djs than I ever was, never get the recognition and begin to almost rust... it breaks my heart. I will always remember watching Bryan McKinlay own tunes like Solarcoaster, Deep Sea and As the Rush Comes and Vlado pop heads off with Street Carnival. And Danny, when you played Moments you OWNED THE FUCKING WORLD. As well playing at Cyber Nightclub for two years with Digital Over and Jimmie Vallance was amazing. Jimmie, even though he is touring the world now and making lots of minimal in NYC or Berlin, I will always remember Sean Tyas - Lift and your big goofy grin. I loved working at Vinyl Records and trying to push wax on kids who had no idea what great stuff there was lurking out there so thanks David Jones for that.
I have loved trance for 12 years and hope this will be the sendoff I deserve as a DJ. If it isn't, that is ok because I have had enough memories to last a lifetime already. I hope all of you at the party can join me in fostering a positive, non-violent atmosphere, and behave responsibly.
Anyways, this is my last hurrah so let us make it a good one and please help us keep everyone alive.
Btw, M.I.K.E. - Live another life FTW
Props man. I don't know you personally but I have heard about your legacy in Vancouver.
