Toy Story 3 might be the best movie of the year according to critics

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/toy...?name_order=asc

It's killing it on the Tomatometer...the last time I saw an early score like this was with District 9 and that was an absolute blockbuster.

Yeah, that's right, you watch that shit like there's no tomorrow.

This will undoubtedly be one of the best movies of the year, Pixar is absolute genius.

I'm sure the film itself will be perfectly charming, with witty postmodern references for the parents and reliable character-driven storytelling to delight the kids.

But nostalgic twenty-somethings are a truly pathetic lifeform.

what i really liked what Pixar did was they scraped all the original assets and images to generate the CGI from the first 2 movies, and regenerated all the characters + the new characters for part 3, especially adding more motion assets for buzz.

they mentioned they didn't generate much shots of buzz in the first 2, but significantly added more in part 3.

He said a day after his twenty second birthday which had come and gone without the typical celebratory zeal he'd felt in previous years. There were no milestones to celebrate. No more of those coming of age moments. Just a dry and bitter realization that now the wonder years were truly over and it was time to get grinding. That maybe he could say after his twenty-third, "Time to get back to the grind."

district 9 was such a shite movie.

There's never been any celebratory zeal to my birthday. For years it's fallen right in the middle of exam season. And what has passed were not the "wonder years". Most of them were shitty.

I want to see it too! Toy Story was the first to start the whole cgi-stuffs in movies. and yes, I'm a nostalgic 20-something

And I'm still waiting for The Incredibles 2. No good reason why that shouldn't happen.

You've never watched a film by Beat Kitano, have you?

Definitely will be watching this one in 3-D. Still debating whether to do 3-D Imax or not for it. Yep, I'm another pathetic 20 something.

Can't say I completely agree on that. I went to see How to Train Your Dragon in 3-D on a digital projector and lots of the colors, textures and detail remained intact.

Sorry to hear that. For better or worse, though, you're an interesting chap and an excellent read. You also seem to know who in the hell you are - or at least have an inkling of that - and not everyone can say that. Especially at your age.

So buck up. I think you're probably better off than you think you are. Of course, you're not actually going to realize that until you start seeing better results.

Posted by idoru on Jun-18-2010 06:06:

It's depressing to think that this would be the "best movie of the year" for most people. I'm not saying that it's going to suck, because I'm sure that it will be a decent movie that's worth one view, but Jesus Christ.

Also...

... maybe if Hollywood hadn't reduced itself to just putting out remakes, it wouldn't be in this situation.

Because you have no happy memories from childhood and take no joy from life means that you conspire to dismiss any form of childlike happiness in adults as pathetic?

Pot and kettle spring to mind.
