2010.07.02 PAUL OAKENFOLD + Brad Miller @ Pacha NYC

Friday July 2
Pacha NYC presents...
Independence Day Weekend 2010
featuring
PAUL OAKENFOLD
closing set by
BRAD MILLER
One of dance musics founding fathers, Paul Oakenfold is also one of its truest believers. Since he first experienced repetitive beats during the UKs Summer of Love in 1988, the DJ/producer/composer/film soundtrack guru has stayed true to the purest of trance and progressive, spinning vocals, dramatic drops, and showers of synth. Theres no better way to kick off your holiday weekend!

2010.07.02 OAKENFOLD at PACHA NYC? July 2nd 2010???? nobody???
I usually love the big name DJs...
Tiesto
PVD
Guetta
AvB
Above and Beyond
Carl Cox
etc. etc.
and I have been into EDM for the last 2 years...
and I have always been under the impression OAKENFOLD
was a "Big Name?"
But for some reason, there is no discussion about the fact that he will be at PACHA NYC on 7/2/10???
Why is that? will it not be a good crowd?

bc thats an uber fail....you should broaden your horizons i guarantee youll be thankful that you did
lol oakey!
i will NEVER EVER pay to see him again! i wouldnt even go for free! among those reasons is because he himself said hes not inspired by music anymore

but he did get me and my friends a table at cafe mambo ibiza in 07 and drank with us for a while so that was cool

I saw oakie play in Boston a few weeks ago, only b/c a friend wanted to go and I haven't been out in a long time. Kenneth Thomas was sick, def played a really good opening set. There was another opening DJ too, I want to say Liquid Todd, who played a good a set as well.
The club wouldn't let anyone go out side to smoke until after 12:15, which seemed really strange at the time. Reflecting back, I think it's because they wanted the club to seem full for when Oakenfold got on. Oakie got around midnight and played a pretty decent set. Nothing mind blowing, but some good trance and progressive. The mixing was solid, no trainwrecks from what i heard. Oakie doesn't bring the same energy that Markus or Armin or most of the other DJ's bring, he just kind of chills in the booth and plays music. But that was fine, I kind of like not having the DJ be the main center of attention, getting the crowd hyped and everyone pushing up front to see them.
Here is a vid with a few songs he played:

Ill be seeing him in Vegas Sat, Sean is the closing set, so more time
to pre-party while Paul plays....
Hey guys, thanks for the very kind words. Glad youve been digging the shows ive played alongside Paul, but im not actually on this New York Show (unless you know something i don't haha...)
Hope I can make it out that way soon though,
-Kt
you guys are never happy...
I always here you guys say things like....
music these days is crap compared to what it use to be...
well, oak is what use to be... lol...
I like big name parties, cuz I get alot out of a sexy crowd...
and smaller names tend to draw in hardcore EDM crowds which tend to be "less sexy" cuz, they are all about dancing and being in their own world... (and I am not saying there is anything wrong with that).
I am just answering why I am not into smaller names...
