review: Bound by Sound Boat 4

Okay so I end this weekend on my first boat cruise and SOOOOO friggin glad I made the right choice. This weekend was jammed packed for me as I went to cobra thurs, vola fri, guv all night and finishing off here (probably not a big deal to promoters or photogs) Although this cruise didn't sell out like in the past I found there was the right amount of people. There was plenty of room to dance and the weather couldn't be any more perfect! After watching the soccer game I mustered enough energy to get my ass down there.

Arrived around 12:30 and was promptly on the boat by quater to 1. Now on the ticket it say departure at 1pm sharp.. like that is going to happen. So the boat finally started moving around 1:40 but music was getting me in the right mood and David Ace was getting things going. I couldn't handle the upstairs sun to start off with and I am sure Matt Herdman got things going too. Grabbed a burger and a beer and was pretty much being lazy and not dancing..
I was told beforehand that Dave Spoon isn't that great live and I am also not a huge electro fan. All that said and done I really enjoyed his set and it got my lazy ass moving . Some people might not be a fan of the high pitched build ups in electro but I didn't mind it. I am sure I would of heard 'At Night' but was surprised and soo pumped to hear at night mixed with 'Be'... song of the day for me! I slowly made my way downstairs to hear Ovi M finish up and by then I was so exhausted I was a walking zombie. Sour dj's are pretty good and seem to draw most of the crowd from upstairs to downstairs. On the way back got a chance to catch the best dancer in the world bust a move to Lee Osbourne who I think started out not too bad but I was soo bored towards the end. I remember this big dude coming up to him telling him "keep it going , keep it goin" and then says if he turns it up any louder he will kill the power or something like that. He didn't look to pleased...

Pretty successful first cruise and geating ready for the omid and demi cruise on Canada day!

good times Dave's set was good, but I absolutely loved what Lee was playing, I'd like to see more of him

and lol @ leaving at 1.45 *sigh*
so much for all the pre-boarding measures and whatnot

security had no respect for the customers WHATSOEVER!

other than that, I had fun.

Lee was awesome

Had an awesome time !

Went with a good group of friends, saw some old friends, and met some New one's including 3 TA members (kristina, sasha, sundeep) ... u're all awesome !!

There were definitely enough people on that boat to have a sweet party yet with enough space to dance, and the music was oh so sweet!!

As jsiblin said, I myself am also not the biggest electro fan and though I do enjoy some of Spoon's productions from a few years ago I still wasn't sure if I would dig his set. I was wrong... thought he brought alot of energy and played some sweet, boat-party appropriate tunes !! really got the crowd movin !! Thank you Dave Spoon !!

Really enjoyed Ovi's set as always, and was a treat to see Lee Osbourne spin after not seeing him spin in ages... great set as well !!

Sour Dj's impressed me since I had no clue who they were before hand, they got the downstairs packed and dancing non-stop!!

Overall nice weather, good friends, great music and tonnes of dancing made for an awesome cruise !!!

The River Gambler !!

I went on Rock the Boat a few weeks ago and it was the same story, in fact the security was even tighter on that boat it seemed. Also, it took at least half an hour to take off once everyone was already on the boat.

Ah well what can ya do... still had a blast at both parties lol

BBS team couldn't have done a better job, everyone was literally on the boat by 1:10pm, unfortunately and until now I am unaware as to why we left late, no admission tickets were accepted past 1:10pm, we were turning people away even though the boat wasn't leaving (we bent over backwards lol) Anyways...I'm not pointing any fingers because the original source of all these problems is governmental in nature.

Outside of that, my fav part after seeing spoon spin finally, was the excellent weather and the great people. Thanks to those who come for the support yet again hope to see you on the next one.

Ps Just dropped off Spoon, he thought the whole boat party thing was just "brilliant" and thanks everyone.

Not surprised. This boat used to be the best one, but it seems like each party that happens on it gets worse and worse.

I understand the need for security but seriously... on the Rock the Boat cruise they confiscated my freak'n lipgloss (which was a clear bottle full of pink sparkly freak'n lipgloss - come'on now...

The guy just took my $30 gloss and tossed it in a bucket without saying a word. I asked the girl who did my body search if I could just put some on - she let me. Looking into the bucket, it was full of girls' makeup - and a lot of it wasn't exactly cheap stuff - most of it wasn't even liquid. Are they seriously trying to tell us that some chick is going to store "stuff" in her face powder?

Getting on the Yankee Lady yesterday, I got to keep my lipgloss.... Yaysies - dry lips suck

The funny thing is that even though they have Fort Knox-like security procedures, people still manage to bring what they want on the boat.

Confiscating things like sunscreen and make-up is just going to far, and makes me want to avoid this boat. Do they really think taking these measures are making a difference?

we were seriously dying without any gloss on this cruise too - same thing, everything got chucked into a bucket
but once we got the washrooms, I overheard one girl showing something to another and saying "oh I just hid it in my crotch" lol! I do hope it was just a small tube of lip gloss!

lol, oh yes I'm sure it was

Confiscating lip gloss now? Thats absolutely ridiculous, not down with this at all.

just imagine being the type who brings her whole makeup bag on... I saw MAC compacts and other expensive make-up items in that bucket.

tossing my lipgloss (and being an ass about it when doing-so) is going too-far

Had a wonderful time on the boat I am glad to have finally heard Dave Spoon live - I have been a fan for a long time. The weather was great, and I enjoyed having lots of space to dance!! Nice meeting Greg, Sorin, and Sandeep!!!

Afterparty at wetbar was terrible - never heard such bad music before, some weird minimal techno that sounded like a skipping CD on repeat for about 3 hours. I think it were Ryan Davis and Darius Syrossian from the night before - absolutely horrendous! I orignally thought it was Johny White, but I take it back.

The venue itself is very nice, but the vibe was whack.

wow, what?!!! PINK lipgloss? Face powder?! That's just ridiculous. Don't they have any idea how much $$$ that shit costs! fuck. I would have made a rather large scene if they had tried to take that shit away from me....LOL. Good thing I wasn't on that cruise!

I think they took something random away from me last summer, but now I can't remember what it was. Plus I was molested, like i've never been molested before! It was a bit extreme.

Pretty soon it will be like going to jail. Full strip search, all of your belongings including your clothes go into a box that you can retrieve once the boat docks.

ricky syfer did an awesome job early on but after him it slowly went down hill
