booked thur nite-monday evening from burbank to oakland. the bart is like $4 each way to DT SF.
each year more and more parties are popping up the night or two before LoveFest. It's always marketed as a Love week type of thing, although the beginning years were really scarce of having pre-parties. more of them have def popped upt he last few years and more genres are being covered.
Kaskade at the Spundae pre-LoveFest party in 2008 I think was the most insane I had ever seen Ruby.

| Originally posted by bigperf same cost, but no free bags. I'm happy with the airports closer to me in socal and in the bay + they are easier to navigate(burbank and oak vs Lax and sfo) the tv is nice though! |

| Originally posted by bigperf if the flight right before yours was delayed as well, could have tried to get on that one. I was able to do that with virgin a couple of years ago when all flights were pushed back 2 hours, so i got on an "earlier" flight that wound up taking off at the time i was plannin on leaving. There are 3 other flights within 3 hours of our takeoff, so a delay might actually work in our favor as we can get on an "earlier" flight and possibly head out earlier than what we are scheduled for. :-) |
On Virgin America, once you check in at the airport, you can get on standby to catch any other earlier flight for no extra charge with them.
I think with Southwest, they only do it free if your previous flight is delayed. Otherwise, I do think they make you pay the difference in price between what you pay and if you walked up to the counter and bought a ticket. I remember once getting to the airport early and trying to get on an earlier flight that was clearly not sold out and they wanted me to pay the difference in airfare cost. Was around $120 (I had like a $39 ticket)
Southwest: To standby for a different flight, you will have to pay the difference between what you already paid and the full fare that a walk-up passenger would pay. If the normal departure time is less than an hour away, you cannot buy a confirmed seat: not on the phone, by Internet, or in person. You can only buy standby. But if the flight is not overbooked, the gate agent will probably give you a boarding pass immediately anyway. Otherwise you have to wait until they clear standbys starting 10 minutes before departure.
There are a few exceptions to the requirement to pay full fare to standby:
(1) Your original flight is delayed 30 minutes or more.
(2) You miss your original flight by 2 hours or less. This is called the "flat tire" rule.
I'm in, thanks for sharing this deal! Was hoping SW would give a break on BUR to SFO, but it wasn't part of the $39 deal so I'm going LAX to SFO...
