Get ready, I'm moving...
...to Toronto. That's right, I will most likely be relocating to the GTA. You may all thank your lucky stars now.
On that note, I'm going to be going to U of T in the downtown campus and I need advice of which areas of the City are safe enough, cheap, hopefully close to downtown, and where more young peeps live.
good to see you coming to toronto to cause some havok, stereoprincess. Now it's time to throw away your Sens jerseys and pick up some blue and white.
A lot of people have some misconception that downtown toronto is dangerous, not so. I don't think you'll have any trouble finding a place near U of T campus, won't be cheap though.
No shit?
Cool!
I remember meeting you at Sasha & Digweed...
You'll have an awesome time
Well, you can get a relatively cheap and safe place near campus, but only if you don't mind living in a cruddy place. You have to find a roommate unless you just want to rent a room in somebodies house, as bachelor apartments will run you around $1000+ a month.
If you're going to U of T you should really look into residence. It's reasonably priced, and it's a great way to meet lots of people.

What's your budget?
Just for a reference, the big apartment building on Spadina across from the grad residence is about $1800/month for a 2 bedroom place. Very pricy...
Being right down town is very pricey indeed.
I used to live in Etobicoke which is about a 20min subway ride from downtown.
It was the second last subway stop going West.
Area was nice and highly recommend it.
True it's not right downtown, but it's cheaper and at least the convience of a 24hr bus (along Bloor St.) route to back home from the bars is available (and of course the subway line, but that stops at like 1:30am or something like that).
Just something to think about.
I've lived right downtown for a coop for 4 months once during the summer. Too many damn distractions if you're going to study I think.
But you might be more disciplined than I was at school
Just ask if you want some more info.
Hope u find a place Princess...wish i could help but i know not anything bout places to rent

As for cheap places around toronto downtown it will probably cost you anywhere from $500 (if you are lucky) - $700 and up, but that's if you move in with a room mate. I don't know if any of the newspapers post their classifieds on line but check out www.torontostar.com
good luck with finding a flat!
once again congrats and see you soon!

I found this sort by accident...
Hope it helps...

This one is pretty good too...

I was just looking for places...
I'm going into 2nd year at UT and I was just searching for houses last week.
A really good UT website is the Housing Service Center for UT, they have a website, here:
http://eir.library.utoronto.ca/StudentHousing/
If you click on a few links, u should come to the Off Campus Housing Listing, here's the direct URL:
http://eir.library.utoronto.ca/stud...gin_housing.htm
But you're gonna need UT card to log in, if you're doing graduate studies, you should have one.
e-mail me if you don't and i'll let u use mine
But basically, you can search for all off campus listings thru there by zip code, pretty useful. I FOUND ALOT OF PLACES AND HAD TO MAKE ALOT OF CALLS, then arrange an viewing and take a look at the house, if you like it, take it!
Watch out for contracts and if the utilities included or not.
I'm actually waiting for a call from a frat house to see if I"m in or not, right on St. George
Desidel was pretty generous advertising his girl's place, why don't u try that?
good luck
For the UT card is it just the student number that you need or is there something else that i need with that.
Thanks alot desidel, that is very nice of you. But I am looking for a 1 bdrm since I'm going to be moving in with my boyfriend.
I hate the whole application thing with apartments. I will keep you guys update of where I'm looking at.
