Wow. "Trance" on a Friday night again? Nice.

Posted by inferno on Jun-30-2010 21:44:

is $30 standard for a top 10 magazine dj like Armin? i honestly don't know, it's been a decade since i've seen a dj like him and i remember paying like $10 for someone of his caliber back then

Posted by trancension on Jun-30-2010 21:57:

Armin, Tiesto and PvD -- ya, it's standard to pay $30+ for early bird tickets. Other top 10 DJs, not so much. $15-$20 is their starting price, depending on other variables.

Markus Schulz started (still is) at $15 (July 7th)
Ferry Corsten is starting at $15 (October 27th)

Damn...right before Electric Zoo---I'll already be in NYC. Get there early 'cause Blake is FIRE!!! So bummed I can't make this.

Finally, something proper stateside I can buy a white suit for. I honestly cannot wait for this

put Armin atop that box in the middle. That meccalooking thing or wtvr.

Posted by Xevious on Jul-01-2010 17:32:

In for 10 haha

Posted by Dream Beamz on Jul-01-2010 18:06:

I hear you, but I would much rather go see Armin than Micro along with white gorilla's

I am pretty sure the Armin party will be the place to be that night in Atlanta, most likely really packed but I like that.

Posted by Lostvission on Jul-01-2010 21:07:

white parties haha..... THIS.IS.NOT.EUROPE.

Posted by trancension on Jul-02-2010 02:19:

So I know the parties in Europe you HAVE to wear white, or at least that's what I've heard...how much is this special dress code going to be enforced Mr. Liquified?

Posted by PVDfan07 on Jul-02-2010 05:38:

Yeah, I'm curious about that too. I don't have white pants. Glad to see Armin back. One of my favorites, but got to say I'm not a fan of packed crowds. In response to the comment on price, 30 is a lot to pay for a dj imo. Honestly, I've always enjoyed the 15 dollar shows better.

Posted by enydo on Jul-02-2010 08:46:

The icing on the trance-cult cake, everybody dressing exactly alike.

It's labor day weekend, white and labor day go hand and hand.

Well, I don't understand it either. I know there are politics involved and money too that makes weekends hard to get. I know a lot of people have morning jobs during the week, but I guess as long as enough people are coming out anyways, things won't change. Maybe if everyone that had to work early didn't show up, they may reconsider.

Weekend parties cost more, you want the number 1 DJ in the world on a weekend but then when you see a price of $30 for what is quite honestly one of the smaller clubs Armin plays at and you complain. Small club most of the time = more price per person for big DJ's but in this case Armin on a Friday $30 is cheap when compared to the rest of the world. Of course there is club/promoter politics behind it but think about your own politics behind it too. I do not know your work schedule but think about the majority. Would you much rather pay $20 to see Armin on a weekday where you have to work the next day or take off and lose a lot of money from a lost days wage..... or pay $30 to see him on a Friday night and have all your money from work and not have to worry about requesting off, calling out sick or etc. The indirect cost of going to a weekday party is usually much more. You have to think outside the upfront monetary box.

I think it makes sense and although I really do not care for Armin one bit I will be there with bells on because i feel fortunate that I can view Armin on a Friday night only a 4 hour drive away from me.

you're going to drive 4 hours and pay $30 to see a dj you care nothing about?

yep....... why, it will still be fun due to 1500 people (educated in EDM or not) going nuts for Armin. Sometimes the party is not about the DJ but rather the fun you can have at "the party"

A lot of people still like Armin and he will still drop a good toon from time to time.

Armin in Chicago sold out for tonight and ticket prices started at $40 for a venue that holds more people

Although it might not seem apparent on this messageboard, I have many friends in Atlanta who would probably make their way out to this for similar reasons I would go so it will also be a social outing.

Now enough of this crap, its a Friday dress in all White Armin Van Buuren party in which ticket prices start at $30 and go up from there and it will sell out, you can either be there or not

I'm not sure why you quoted me, but props for remembering a conversation from so long ago. I really wasn't complaining. I was just making the statement that in my experience the cheaper, less crowded events have been better. Also, I personally have no problem with weekday parties. I actually enjoy them more because weekend crowds tend to be more crowded and rowdy and right now, I don't have an early job that hinders me. I understand why some people want weekend parties though and seeing Armin on a Friday would be cool. I was just saying, in my opinion, I have more fun at a cheaper, less crowded event, so to me, 30 dollars is pricey. If I have it, I will gladly go to this.

i'm not wondering why liquified is charging so much, i'm wondering why armin is. a ticket price at that level puts the set fee pretty high.

yeah, i understand top dj in the world.

Posted by hellosam on Jul-03-2010 04:09:

hell yeah ill add this to my sept itinerary!

Posted by TranceLuver4evr on Jul-03-2010 05:36:

People will bitch either on weekday or weekend cuz it's too much...

Seriously, $30 bucks for your "#1" DJ on a Friday is not bad at all. I pay the same price for Armin @ NYC on a friday night small venue 8 years ago and he wasn't even that well known back then....

You just can't satisfy everyone in the world....

Basic supply and demand...as demand goes up, supply goes down. The price has to go up to curtail the demand. Or something...I hate economics. But ya, Armin is so popular, every club wants him. Not only do the promoters have to pay him a nice chunk to compete with other promoters/clubs...but they really have to pamper him when he comes to town, or so I've heard.

I hope I can figure out if I want to go to this before price goes up...but we'll see I guess. I just hate the crowd Armin attracts so much...really ruins the vibe in my opinion. I might have to just deal with it though. Armin does always play a nice set, even if his productions are utter crap now.
