Red face [Prog?] OrgaNik - Instant Insomnia (Just Add Water) [Full 320]

Okay then...

This track was done for the TA Album project and I've been sitting on it since some time last year. As it seems (and as I suspected), the whole project seems to be dead and I cannot be arsed holding on to this any longer.

This track is (surprisingly enough) some sort of dark-ish prog with some breaks thrown in (as if you couldn't guess that if you'd ever listened to anything I made...) for good measure. I haven't actually produced anything after this and I made this over 6 months ago... oh well...

OrgaNik - Instant Insomnia (Just Add Water) (6:59, 320 kbps)

cool i like the nrg of this tune was just holding out for some type of climax if thats the right word it sounds like you incorporated all the elements as one so it kinda felt like there was no direction as such interesting listen

Sweet kick and subbass combo you have here. Bet this would sound really massive on a proper system.

Good tune overall. I'm keeping it.

I like it man, def. a great progressive sound so far about a third through. Reminds me of System F with the basslines and sounds. Good control over the sounds. I personally enjoy a little more focus on percussion and groove in my progressive selection, but this is good stuff. We should have a TA CON very soon.

I like this track a lot. It definitely has a dark vibe to it and I like the way tension builds slowly throughout the track. Love the bass and kick - they really pack a punch. The breakbeat parts were tasty and I like it when it kicks into high gear around 5:20. No crits here!

Cool track, Nik, I like it.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

The actual reason this track is only 7 minutes in length is the original 7-minute time limit for the album this was supposed to be for. I'm sure this would had been somewhere around 9 minutes if there hadn't been such a limit, and I actually considered extending it further but I think it actually works pretty well as it is. No need to make it drag any further.

Yikes, can't believe I missed this one.

Sounds great Nik, I really like the "dark" atmosphere and the tension that's built throughout the entire track. Gonna send this one to a buddy, as he's really into this dark prog sound. I wish you'd get off your ass (or... get on your ass?) and make some more tracks, though! These are getting few and far between!

I almost kinda wish that the breakbeat part went a little crazier/longer. Love the synth that alternates octaves and rides behind it, though.

owien, I think I like the fact that it doesn't have a major climax... this isn't a tension and release song, it's a tension song, and that can be fun as well.

I know! Maybe I should do some remix work or something, maybe that'd reboot my brain...

Thanks for the comments (and the bump )

I haven't knocked anything out recently either, mainly because I haven't had a space to do it. My little studio room is almost done, though. I'm getting the itch again.

Space is not my issue, time is. Damn relationships, they're so demanding...

I had that, too. Luckily, she recently found a hobby too.

I'll just keep shoveling her Twilight books

Sweet track. Not much else I can say

Does sound dark indeed.

Breakbeat at 2:27 is wicked sick.

4:10 is quite nice as well. Like the synth combo and fat lead synth.

Sounds to me like the cherry on top is missing though.

What a tune, immaculate production sir!, i'd gladly pay for this!

I appreciate the feedback.

It's always cool to hear music from you. I discovered your Glaciation album a while back and I've gave it many listens! Good stuff.

There are some really lovely elements in this tune and a great overall atmosphere. My only minor criticism would be that the bass is rather standard. But I guess it does become less and less noticeable/important as the tune progresses.

Keep it up.

hey man, I appreciated hte critical feedback very much so wanted to check out a track or two of yours. VERY cool that you offer your whole album for free. Don;t worry about going a strectch without making music. Sometimes a break is good. I usually got about 2 years (yes 2 years!) in between albums myself. I find breaks are very good for my music and my mind! You will always come back to your music, do not worry! the only thing I do like about this song is it sounds a lot like a lot of other songs. Nothing really makes it stand out except for the very good production values. But with pros a lot of them have this. I would try to put something in your tracks that make them clearly stand out from all the rest. Just my opinion of course and like I said I love the track anyhow!

Yeah, you're not the only one who's been saying this and it's a fair observation, really. The thing is I'm not very creative when it comes to writing melodies so my tracks are usually based more on the mood and atmosphere rather than creative hooks.

Good clean recording values here mate. I like the sense of space you develop.

Posted by Nemesis44 on Nov-10-2010 19:51:

I meant to comment on this a while back but didn't get around to it.

This is probably my favourite track of yours so far. Production values are spot on can't fault the composition.

I would perhaps say that for me, although I would have no problems dropping this in a set, I would say that it is missing that one element that would turn from being a good track into an awesome track.

I really enjoyed listening though.

Many thanks for sharing
