Berlin Forbids the Loveparade
The Berlin Interior Authority has prohibited the Loveparade planned for July 14th. The parade which attracts over 1 million participants yearly, collided with an earlier registered demonstration by Loveparade opponents. This was shared Wednesday 04.04.01 by Interior Senator Eckart Werthebach (CDU Party).
Loveparade speaker Enric Nitzsche: "We are quite surprised about this decision".
In anticipation the Loveparade had already worked on a suggested route compromise: the parade could simultaneously begin in two places, at "Ernst-Reuter-Platz" and at "an der Urania". The paths would lead to the Siegess�ule (Victory Column) as in every year. The opposition initiative could then demonstrate in the route section between Brandenburger Tor (Brandenburg Gate) and the Siegess�ule.
This version would not only relieve the strain on the Tiergarten but also give the opposing demonstrators the already mentioned space of approximately 100,000 sq. meters. So from the side of the Loveparade, a coexistance between both demonstrations is a realistic possibility.
In Werthebach's opinion, this suggested alternative route is not a solution.

The organizers of the opposition demonstration also called the motion for the new route inacceptable. The initiative has 25,000 expected participants whereas last year a similar action brought the support of around a hundred people.

Ok, so that sucks that it's cancelled...but what makes u think that they just won't pack up & move to a new city that doesn't mind? There has to SOMEWHERE that they can go! I remember looking @ pictures of last years Love Parade and was amazed at the amount of people!

). The LoveParade started 8 years ago (I think! ) with only 1 truck and 500 visitors. I think they can expect 2 milion people this year. Let's hope there will be a BERLIN LoveParade.
There's also a "loveparade" in Holland and Belgium, you got the FFWD Dance Parade in Amsterdam and the Street Parade in Luik, maybe this is a small comfort?

that raises another question in my mind...if the loveparade has done so much...why would you cancel it?? that's fucking stupid.
this was expected a long time ago
eventually the love parae would have to be shut down,evenn last year authorities were upset over the amount of drugs present at this event and were expected to change things a bit ,but i wasn't really expecting anything to happen of it! oh well at least I got a chance to go while it was still on
anyway ,don't change your travel plans people there are still other great festivals my personal fav the street parade in Zurich,austria ...it's smaller but I like the crowd so much more,also if your willing to cross multiple borders in a day trance energy happens later that night in Norway????? maybe someone wants to check that but i've never been,so I haven't the info for it ,sorry! just change your plans to august and I can assure you you'll have a great time anyway

Why demonstrate against something that only brings love and unity among people? why do they demonstrate at all?
unfortunately...it's the narcotics that they're worried about. which is fucking retarded considering how much people use at ALL raves. i dunno. demonstrators will always have their reasons.

thats fucking bullshit, wont mark spoon be pissed. Ever since 1998 when paul van dyk's 'For An Angel' came out i've wanted to go to see the parade, and i was planning on going to germany this year to see it. I AM SADDER THAN EVER.
Wow, that totally sucks. And I thought we had it bad when our first massive of N California this year got canned by the DEA. But to cancel an event of 2 million+ people?!? Shocking.
