Best Price for Technics 1200 mk2??? help

hi all

im thinking bout gettin a pair of the 1200 mk2s. Best price i've found so far is 400 each. Does anyone know a place where i could get it for cheaper??? Also...wat mixer do u guys recommend for a beginner? As well as cartridges. I heard some needles will screw up ur vinyls faster than other but i dont know.

Thanks

First off you can find 1200 MD3's for about $400 a piece so you might as well pick those up instead of MK2's. If your a beginner and your starting out with tecknics you might as well get a nice mixer to go along with those tables. You could get a Vestax 275 for about $360 unless you want to drop like over a GRAND on a mixer.

As far as different needles screwing up your vinyl faster, it's not the type of needle, it's how it is set up on the deck. (height, weight, etc)

I was blessed with a deal for 2 MD3's and a (crappy) American DJ mixer, with all that goes with it, all virtually brand new!!!.....$700

whats the best place to pick up a new pair of tables? n the M3d's only difference from the MK2's is the pitch reset button n lowered on off switch? i don't think i'd ever use the reset feature..maybe i'm just not educated in how it's used creatively? any insight on where to get them and the question is very much appreciated so thanks in advance.

Below is the bottom line difference between all the Technics models.

1200 MK2 -- Original
1210 MK2 -- Original + Black color instead of silver
1200 M3D -- Original + Reset button + Lowered power switch + Slipmat

You may not use the reset button much but the M3D doesn't have the notch at 0% pitch like the MK2 does. I find it hard to fine tune pitch when the track is a fraction above and below 0% because of that notch. The MK2 does not come with slipmats so that's another $20 for a pair.

Generally the M3Ds are $50 USD more expensive than the MK2s. MK2s usually sell around $400USD.

A buying tip is, find the cheapest equipment you can find and then goto pssl.com and ask for a price match. They have a 110% price guarantee that states they will take off 10% from the price if you find a better price. There are a few rules (of course) but it's not too strict. I use 123dj.com for a lot of the cheapest prices.

I got PSSL to price match and got M3D's for $395 each.

wat a gyp, they sell mk2's in australia for $975 aussie dollars (nearly 500 usd)... and m3d's for $1050 (about 500 usd) i wonder if i could get them ne cheaper in australia... or is there an american site that ships overseas, which can beat that price???

Yes you are being screwed.
Light & Sounds has Mk2's for $999 fully loaded w/flight case.
Standard prices (in Sydney) are about $850 Mk2's fully loaded and $950 Mk3's fully loaded.
I wanted Ortofons with my decks so I bought Mk3's for $900 without stylus + cartridge.
I now wish I had bought them fully loaded as I've snapped a needle and have nothing to use until my pay cheque clears. NOT HAPPY!

lol, thanx man... i knew they were a tad expencive... luckily i havn't bought em yet, so itz all good... on the site it says $1225 is about the retail price... i thought that was pretty suspect, i need 2 do more research now... does that shop ship to brissie?

I know what you you mean. I spent AGES checking everywhere for exactly what I wanted at the best price.
My suggestion, go to this web site:

http://www.djbasement.com

It's Australian and is a good indicator for what the real RRP is and it has an extensive range of equipment.
I'm not sure how much P&H is because I didn't get mine from there.
I'd suggest you do what I did and go to one of the larger DJ shops in Brisvegas, give them the price and URL of DJ Basement and tell them to look it up and match it. If they don't, go to another store.

the lowest new price I've seen was 400

Got mine for 275 a piece from ebay and cases where an extra 30 bucks......was the dude second time posting them and wanted to get rid of them so I got them really cheap.....

Posted by dj_nomiz on Jul-29-2002 07:17:

wat a bargain!... but does ebay give u a guarantee that the deckz are still all good?... or do u have to find out for urself if u got ripped or not?

Posted by Dj Fred Lamar on Jul-29-2002 14:52:

The dude is pretty upfront w/ me......he told me everything that was wrong with it......which was really nothing......

Only things that I've found wrong w/ it were:

The cases-----some scuffs and scratches....told about this in the item descrption.

The TT- no needles and scuffs on the the metal......he also told me about this. No problem here b/c gonna change it to black.

I guess it depends on the person you buy it from......me I guess I got lucky and grabbed a sweet deal.....

I got to agree with the ebay pricing. But if you can't find the right price, find a price online (m3d 399 on hollywooddj.com) and go to like guitar center to match the pricing.
