What ear do u use in your headphones to monitor?
Im just curious as to what ear u guys use in your headphones when monitoring?
It seem's as if my right ear always works out better in the headphone for some reason, most peeps i see seem to use the left though?!
Lemme Know!
My middle ear...
No seriously I try to switch now and then. You never know when the monitor in the venue happens to be at the wrong side. So I get used to both sides.
My right and its gonna stay that way.
i prefer the right ear but if i have to (due to monitoring setup's) i can use the left too..i always monitor one ear on n one listening to themonitors..u gotta get used to being versatile as places have different setups n you have to be able to perform regardless.
right 4 life
I always monitor cans on my left ear, monitor speaker on my right.
i can do it the other way if i have to, but i find it really uncomfortable to wear my cans that way..
not sure why.
That depends on where the monitor(s) is/are located. If they're placed on both sides, I cue with my right ear..

I listen from the headphones with my left ear, dunno why
right ear!
it really doesn't matter!

Well I usually monitor using a can on each ear but swapping from left to right. When cueing up the right deck I use my left ear and when cueing up on the left I use my right ear and then I'll swap it around. U never know the situation will be when u play out, the monitors could be on either side.
Also it is an idea to learn to mix in your headphones either using split or stereo settings. Remember kids, tranceaddict always have to be prepared
I can switch back and forth, but I always use my left ear, and I think the reason being, I have really good hearin in both ears, but I can pick up more with my right ear and that is the ear that I use to hear the monitor, and my left ear I use for cueing
i use my left ear in the headphones
i don't feel i need to learn the right ear, seeing as if you're spinning out, the side of the monitor doesn't really matter considering its going to be loud as hell regardless
worse comes to worse, ill just slightly take the cup of the headphone off of my ear so i can hear them both in my left ear
Well since i have a speaker above each turntable, say if im playing with the right turntable, then my right ear is free so that i could hear the speaker better.
i use my left ear almost all the time
i have bad hearing on one of the ears but i havent decided on wich....i don't know if it's right so i have to hear the monitor better or if it's the left so i can hear the speakers better but it works best with left for me....it's like i can concentrate better on the sound then
I use both...... I mean, I just but the phones on both ears and monitor the 2 tracks with the headphones.......
I mix better that way....
^^^ me aswell ^^^^
I find it easier to hear whether the two tracks are perfectly in phase this way...
i have to use my left quite a bit....but i've got wonky ears....my right ear is 60% deaf, so all i hear is bass (which is both good and bad, depending on how you see it)....it makes for an interesting time mixing to any kind of crowd
Always the right ear.....because the left side of my headphone is completely damaged
i use my right ear, its like automatic....

I try to use just the headphones so my ears arent as wrecked at an end of a gig..
but it never happens and i always end up swapping from letf to right, etc. for each mix.
At the end of the night your ears are equally ringing..
i did use to monitor on my right but then it sounded weird going to sleep cos u could listen better int he left ear!
