What is the world coming to.........

Today I heard on the radio that in England, 126 (or a figure around this number) women are raped a day. This chilling fact comes along with 70% of these rapes are done by ex-partners or partners, and 30% from strangers (Something along those figures) and that most of the women who suffer attack do not report that they were raped to the police. This comes a day one of my best friends (a girl) told me that one of her best friends who she's known since like 5 tried to rape her, and she is only 16. It really puts a grim reality onto the world. Any views?

Yeah man. 1 in 20 women in england have been raped, apparently.
But this shit isn't based on police figures on how many are reported, its just based on a survey of women.
So its a bit fucking debatable. Any bird thats had a shag after getting heavily pissed or something, and then regretted it afterwards, could say that they have been raped.

ppl are fucked up these days

what about all the young 5 and 6 yr. old girls that are being molested here in US atleast, and im sure it happens alot more not only here but all over the world

i just think that societies all over the world are devolving so that too much emphasis is being placed on sex...its becoming an obsession, and at least one prominent psychiatrist has said (it was on the news yesterday) that americans' obsession with sex is simply not normal

im not saying that sex is bad its just that too much of anything can cause problems!

I agree about women and drinking. I remember this being associated when with girls who go on holiday and get pissed up, sleeps with a lad, then wakes up to find she made a big mistake. I heard that they got those figures from those help centres that women phone into to talk about problems etc... I don't know.

Too much trance....ummm i cant see how that could ever be a problem!

Mentalbarter, the truth is so many women don't tell the police because of how guilty, dirty, used etc... they feel. My friend said she wont go to the police because she would feel humiliated. She wont tell no one else, and all i can do is support her Thats why the survey wasn't taken from the police, coz most women don't report the rapes.

Not really, my friend. Societies have always been fascinated with sex, so nobody is "devolving" or "deteriorating." It's the same as saying that people who lived 100 years ago had "better morals" or other shit like that. People are always the same, remember that.

Now, about those stats... Let me tell you something. Many of these girls who claim to have been "raped" were actually quite willing, I'm sure, to have a little fun at the time -- and not only that, but many of them probably acted provocatively and flirted. And because they were so flirty, they knew quite well about the possibility of sex. They weren't 100% sure they wanted to do it, but at the same time the possibility wasn't all that repulsive from their standpoint -- else they would have left immediately, or stopped playing these games. In other words, they enjoyed the uncertainty and played with it, knowing rather well that sex was coming.

Right now I'm talking about the "date rape" situations that you hear about in college.

I was going to say this too.. I bet it's even alittle less now than it was a lONNNNG time ago.

hmm...u may actually be right, now that i think abt it, but maybe not...im not sure...the only thing thats certain is that things are alot more "open" now than they used to be, and its possible that this openness has gone a lil too far...i mean a lil bit of openness can be passed off simply as a reflection of the way things are, but when so many of the things u see on TV have sexual connotations or imply sumthing sexual, i thing it begins to actually encourage such behavior

Obviously its bad and I dont understand why guys do it. I thought thats what Porn is for, if your feeling horny and dont have a gf, go JO to some porn dude.

I know that some girls may do what you said Eugine, but a) that doesn't make it acceptable for a bloke to have sex with a girl when she doesn't want to, and b) it seems ur generallising your point. There are always going to be cases of rape when they arn't true, but that doesn't excuse the fact that the figures show.

not that many to have any kind of effect on the statistics. 126 in a day. so 1 or 2 are fake. 124 in a day is still 124 to many.

A big current issue in Australia at the moment is the number of youth gang rapes, which are performed by Young Lebanese Males targeting young Australian females , just because they are australian.
