Kenneth James Gibson - Delusional Tales and Non-Silence LP [Culprit]

Culprit is delighted to bring you its first full-length release and the debut full-length album from Kenneth James Gibson, "Delusional Tales And Non-Silence". Kenneth James Gibson is one of Los Angeles' most prolific and accomplished producers. Recording under numerous aliases that include Premature Wig, dubLoner, Reverse Commuter, Eight Frozen Modules and [a]ppendics.shuffle. Gibson's work has graced some of the most exciting labels in dance music today, including Hallucination, Adjunct, Leftroom, Superfreq, Trapez and Persistencebit, as well as appearing on compilations from XLR8R Magazine, EMI and Warp.
With the first LP release under his full name, Gibson has delivered his flowing blue print for late night house music. Punchy percussion accompanied by swirling synths and melody are accompanied by frequent vocal splashes from himself ('Painted Eyes'), his partner in crime Kelly Johnston ('Animals Tonight', 'Something in The Way', 'Give it Up, Let it Go') and Don Fuego ('This Whole Time', 'We Can Do That') recently heard on Ryan Crosson and Guti's 'You Got Me'.
Gibson has produced an album both ominous and funky, that at points draws listeners into darker nocturnal places, while at others buoys them back into the light. Heavily praised by luminaries ranging from Mr. C and DJ Three to Luciano and Damian Lazarus, Gibson is a rare stone in today's musical climate.
Track listing:
01. You Remind Me
02. We Can Do That feat Don Fuego
03. Brisk Defiance
04. Give It Up, Let it Go feat Kelly Johnston
05. Another Number
06. Animals Tonight (KJG Dub Version)
07. Relying Heavily On
08. Painted Eyes
09. Something in the Way feat Kelly Johnston (Extended Mix in 3 passages)
10. This Whole Time feat Don Fuego
All 10 samples can be heard at the Culprit MySpace.
Release date is August 18 on Beatport, this will be a digital only release.
This album is 100% primed for the dancefloor and, imo, has something for everyone. The beauty of it is that you can still listen at home and get into it. Personally I can't wait for his rework of Something In The Way and the Animals Tonight dub, they're amazing.
Oh! Meant to include this, the people at Ibiza Voice have more to say:

nobody quite like Ken out there
check this out..first he totally rocks the Standard rooftop with his live set, then he closes it with a Hank Williams Jr. song (i believe) - in its original form! Troy Pierce who is following him looks bemused

also, this is a fantastic piece on Ken's work with Damian Lazarus on remixing the latter's album:

- Give It Up
- Animals Tonight Dub
- This Whole Damn Time
sounded pretty decent...but the rest was "eh".

the tune in the video is "The Forgotten Note" - it was one of the tracks on Ken's debt EP for us last September. The version in the video is a twisted up, improvised version of it

I heard Brisk Defiance on last year's KJG Culprit Live PA and I was hoping it was an actual track up for release. Awesome.
This Whole Time is probably my favorite. So fucking dark and sexy.
Sounds good. I like Give It Up and Painted Eyes the most, I think. Will pick it up in a day or so.
really nice review of the album on Ibiza Voice:
Ibiza Voice
a few lovely things Kenneth's peers have said:
Butane: the "techno business", needs more people like KJG. Unlike most, his talent
is inversely proportional to his ego. And he's one of the most talented guys I know.
Slam strong album release - driffty and dubby - liking
Anthony Collins: really really cool album
Wow that Ibiza Voice review is spot on. Good shit.
too expensive.
