Mood lighting for DJ setups..
Its been pretty slow at work, so ive been perusing the 'post your setup' thread endlessly.
Ive noticed many of the setups have a cool blue glow emanating from setup.
mixer / equipment aside, what do you use to create that glow? I currently have a decent set up that would look stunning with the right lighting.
I already have a black light I could use.. but what could i use to create the blue'ish glow.
sort of like this:

Blue lights haven't been cool since well actually they've never been cool. I've got some LED strips installed on my laptop stand above my mixer and on my speaker stands above my TTs. Mine emit white light though. Looks better IMO and is actually functional too as you can see what's going on. I don't have a pic of it though. Maybe i should take one some day. The LED strips are from Ikea. Around 50 I think and they do sell colored ones too, but I don't know what those are like as i think colored lightning is a bit tasteless.
natural lighting. dim lights, not right in your face but reflecting off of many surfaces so it scatters. subtle natural lighting is good for mood
I have a himalayan salt lamp with a yellow (normal) bulb inside that emits a orange glow overall. I think if I put a blue coloured bulb inside it would emit a blue glow? Interesting idea. My suggestion is fine some kind of lamp that 'glows' and replace the standard bulb with a blue one. It's all about the light container.
hmmm i may have to try these LED strips. Himalayan salt lamps also sound cool.
That looks way too bright, that would give me a headache.
Get some Chauvet Color Splash JR's. Can get them for like $60-70. Then get a cheap sub-$100 DMX controller.
It's fun.

I've been thinking about picking up one of those LED light bars. I think American DJ makes them. They look great as up-lighting against a wall.
I got a pack of those saucer LED's from Ikea that work great. U can change the colors, have them stay the same color or fade into the next and so forth. Looks like that's what u have but the photo makes them much brighter than they actually are.

LEDs are the best today ...they do not produce much glare ...no headaches .

Actually, I just figured out a good lighting mechanism.
My PC which is overclocked through the roof, had 4 led Cooling fans, blue and red. It does quite a good job of lighting up the room.

they're getting smarter and smarter and their posts while still odd are very relevant usually. Just like your previous comment
