Best reverb plugin

Whats the best reverb plugin out there right now?

Posted by cryophonik on Aug-08-2010 02:33:

Aether 1.5, hands down. (IMO, of course )

Posted by Lucidity on Aug-08-2010 03:01:

I can't get my hands off Eos from Audio Damage. Aether is nice. Haven't tried it yet but there is the Lexicon PCM reverb, I imagine thats pretty awesome, but, I don't have $1500 to spare on a reverb plugin.

Posted by chrisspob on Aug-08-2010 07:14:

obviously i havent tried them all but you can get some serious nice big verbs from warmverb !! love it

Posted by sleeping on Aug-08-2010 08:37:

Toraverb is quite nice imo

SSL X-VERB

I've heard nothing but good things about aether, but it IS very pricey.

My two favourites are Redline and Artsacoustic.

The powercore VSS3 beats them all, but a whole new level of cost.

yes arts acoustic is great, i also love epicverb wich is free and yes it does sound kinda tinny or someting but with a bit of eq on the send channel it can sound huge!

Plate 140 and EMT 250 from UAD

the reverb in fl studio.

Posted by DJ_Rafnel on Aug-08-2010 18:18:

Arts Acoustic, for sure.

Lexicon PCM bundle. If you have the cash its definately the best.

Otherwise I've heard good things about the redline verb, which is derived from the algorithms in a reaktor verb and sounds pretty similar to the lexicon...

Arts Acoustic (love it), 112db redline reverb (had the demo and was mightly impressed - need to save some cash for it) and Logic's Space Designer.

Posted by DJ RANN on Aug-13-2010 01:21:

For strings, logic space designer with the Bricasti IR's.

No comparison to anything, including the lexicons which I have.

Seriously, the Bricasti hardware reverbs are simply the greatest reverbs I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

Honestly, the day the Bricasti's arrived, the lexicon 960's (all 4 of them) only got used when someone else had pinched the Bricasti's.

Undoubtedly. Lucky for you you're probably the only person on this forum who can afford them!

Ah - nice! All play, no pay!

[edit: I was referring to not having to pay for the hardware, not the amount of money that you get paid btw! ]

http://www.relab.dk/lx480.html these guys did SSL X-Verb and Lexicon PCM. doesn't get better than that.

Nice, but I don't really get it. I've got the lexicon bundle and the 480 sounds incredibly like the real thing at the studio. I can't really see the benefit of the Redlabs new version apart from they have modelled other stuff such as some of the hardware's quirks, which frankly I can live without. Maybe I'm missing something?

Actually, can someone post info about their waves reverbs opinions - I have mine, but I would like to hear other people's thoughts on them and which ones they use for what purpose etc.

At least you get to play with all the cool toys that the rest of us can only dream about.

I've always liked RenVerb - it's a good all-purpose reverb that's easy to use and has a nice warmth to it - I really like it for darker reverbs, particularly on drums. However, TrueVerb just doesn't do it for me - not sure why, though. I just can't ever seem to coax the sound I want out of it, so I give up right away and turn to Aether or RenVerb.

Nice. I'm afraid to even try it because I'm sure verb-lust would get the best of me.

The lexicon pcm software doesn't have the algos from the old lex like the 480. It has only the different sounding current algos from the pcm 96 and some improvements. Relab modelled the 480. They didn't do the lexicon pcm plugins and don't have access to the real algos. But it sounds as good as the pcm plugins just way more affordable.

soundtoys makes the best time-based anything

Got it - It seems strange that Lexicon didn't make a plug of the 480 (or 960) and somehow they've allowed relab to do it (use of the trademark etc.).

And yes, sound toys are superb - we have nearly all of them at the studio on every rig. The echoboy has been used on more major films than I can mention as the primary delay plugin.

anyway, if anyone wants a go at trying to spot the hardware vs software (Lexicon 480)...
