Review: Rogue Show Luke Fair & Add2basket
I had been looking forward to this party for a couple months now, and I was not definately not disappointed. What a fantastic musical night out it was.
Opening tunes set the mood perfectly for the night ahead. Already had my groove on from the get go. About midnight or so Luke steps up to the decks and the funky sweetness began. After a couple tracks he steps aside and Andras takes over for the next couple tracks. I was not expecting a b2b set, but this is what we got. At first I was a little bit...meh about the thought of this, but as the night progressed they both delivered and complemented each other so well. Add2basket played a little bit more of the clubby prog with the darker undertones, Luke taking over with his signature funkiness he loves to bring to the dance floor. There were a few wow... this is so good!! moments throughout those few hours which brought a huge smile to my face. The last couple tracks that were played were simply amazing, specifically the closing track before the encore. Such an uplifting ending to the set.
Positive vibes, non-stop dancing, smiling faces... People were there for a good time. One negative point was the smoke machine. Even though it added to that underground feel, it was over done.
I cant wait for Episode Three of the Rouge Show to be released so I can relive some of Saturday nights moments over again. I dare say that I enjoyed the night musically more than Danny Howells back in July.

Really wish I could have been there for this event - it doesn't surprise me in the least that it was better than DH - these guys stay in their element, where Danny has a tendency to go a little more techno at times.
Glad to hear it was awesome

at least i'll get to hear some of it.
still sad about missing this
great frigging night. its awesome when b2b sets work that well.
add2basket really surprised me with how pumping he was. i really enjoyed it
not enjoying the way i feel today, but whatevs...sometimes you're the pigeon, sometimes you're the statue....haha
it was an incredible night indeed. more when we return from our little recovery vacation. and yes, we are working on hooking up the recording and using it for podcast three.... coming soon.
thanks again everyone!
It was a super night!
Tag teaming was the theme all night long. Matt and Steve started things off with some downright beautiful warm up tunes that hypnotically drew people on to the dancefloor. By the time Luke started at 12:30 the place was already quite full - a nice surprise given there were some very good events happening across the city. I really love the crowd that comes out for BTB events, so friendly, into the music and no attitude. And it was a treat to see many faces from System days! Almost felt like a mini-reunion.
Luke and Andrew are an excellent musical match. Overall their styles perfectly complement each other though Andrew's a bit more on the chuggy/aggressive side while Luke excels on the melodic front. My friends found it rather amusing that I could always tell who was on but by now I'm sorta familiar with Luke's distinctive style.
Those who were lucky enough to catch the first live "Rogue Show" were simply eating it up and would have happily stayed if the night could have lasted longer. But alas, the lights went on at 5 and the 70-odd people hollered for an encore, which was graciously given.
Thanks to Luke and Andrew for such a stellar night, the Fabricated guys, BTB crew for putting it together and FW!
