Can't believe this guy is a 19 year old music student....

Balam Acab

His See Birds EP is insanely good. Sounds like a mixture of Animal Collective, Burial & Moderat.

Huge new talent, going to keep an eye out for him.

That was pretty underwhelming, to be honest.

As far as 19 year old talents go, Space Dimension Controller has this guy beat by miles.

I don't understand what's so strange about the age. The creative part is innate, if he's learned technical things for production then 19 isn't all that young as long as he's had a passion for it and really found it interesting.
If anything, the young age is probably a good thing since a grown up is more conformed to norms of behavior, that (as far as I know, please correct me if I'm wrong) kind of defames playfulness and innovativeness.

Right, so let's starting posting our favorite new talents over the age of 70, because now that you mention it, that would in fact likely be more impressive.

Carl Cox?

As a good Frenchman, I'd like to quote Victor Hugo: "it's easy to be a genius when you are 20 years old, it's harder when you are 50".

word!

it's much harder from year to year - when childhood is over, time to fall into the trap of real life...

when someone is 30, 40, 50 and still doing his thing brilliantly, that proves he's dedicated to music in 100% and has huge, endless talent - imho

examples: Moshic, John Fleming, Ricky Smith...

mat zo? hes a fuckin genious and hes 19 or 20

Claude Von Stroke is like in his late 30s and I'm not sure if i'm right, but that's when he exploded right? Deep Throat was one of the biggest songs not too long ago and he made that when he was 30 something.

But to be fair, he was apparently always pretty good from what i've read.

wwoooww how is he only 19!!!! thats amazin. i wish i was like that when i was 19 hell i wish i was like that NOW!!!1

the music is awesome. but the mix sounds so harsh and 'attackful' it ruins it

Superpitcher ends his recent RA podcast with his See Birds (Sun) track.

That Space Dimension Controller dude is good, the OP one was kinda boring imo.

Posted by Floorfiller on Sep-06-2010 15:41:

no need to downplay that these guys are doing cool things. all that matters is it sounds like they are following their own artistic visions and that's what makes it good. like what i'm hearing from these young guys. wish more young producers would just make what they feel and not worry about topping the trance chart...

Not too hard, considering Moderat sounds like a blatant rip-off of Burial.
