Cherry Beach?

I was going on a boat cruise with my work last Sunday and got stuck in traffic on Cherry St. Considering that every car with their windows down was blaring house music out the windows, I guessed that it was that Cherry Beach party I always read about, but never go to.

So my question... Was I right? Were all those people going to Cherry Beach? Or was there another event last Sunday, maybe at Sound Academy, that they were going to?

If Cherry Beach is still throwing their Sunday party, how much is entrance, and what do I need to know (I believe no alcohol is one of those things?).

If Cherry Beach is NOT still having that party, wtf was going on?

T and T was having an Asian influenced food festival similar to Taste of Danforth

It was because Mark Oliver was playing there for the first time.

j/k

LoL, did you notice that 99% of those people were Asian families?

Cover is $5 and yes you can byob but don't drink it openly, in a mug or something.
there are red plastic cups by the dj booth for free.

Sunday August 15th
promise cherry beach sunday afternoon soundsystem

Commuter trains commute, road rage rages, movies move, people shop in shops and someone's at home 'tidying up. All the while the grasses wave and wind blows and airplanes and birds pass overhead, as we swing in hammocks and listen to rhythms flowing through the trees down at Cherry Beach.

Bring a frisbee, bring a kite, bring a handy sweater, bring a dog (only nice dogs), bring your lover and a hammock. And pass the time on this lazy sunny Sunday afternoon with friends and friends of friends.

On the decks:

George Chaker
Dirty Dale Arseneault
Jacob Cino from Third Eye Tribe (Vancouver)
Noah Pred
Jeff Payne

3 to 11pm

A New Trend
More and more, people have been arriving in sailboats and anchoring just offshore and then paddling or swimming in to join us at the beach. Its a great idea and awesome to see!

Please Steer Well Clear of the Windsurfing Club
Do not cut across their property. Do not park in their lot. Do not ask to use their washrooms. Stay away from the windsurfing club! More than almost anything else, Cherry Beach Sundays are dependent on their goodwill and theyve been very kind and accommodating so far.

Kajama Midnight Moon Sailing Cruise (Pirates Booty) Saturday August 21st
Tickets for the cruise will be in stores Monday. It usually sells out, so pick them up right away, or call us and we can meet up to get them to you - David 416 550 2702 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting______________416 550 2702______end_of_the_skype_highlighting begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 416 550 2702 end_of_the_skype_highlighting and Irving 416 902 1740 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 416 902 1740 end_of_the_skype_highlighting. See you aboard!

Harvest Festival Coming Up September 10th to 12th
The flyer is ready, and those of you on our snail mail list will be receiving it in about a week, along with a letter from us about whats new this year. Otherwise look for the flyer and also tickets in stores Monday. Theres the website www.harvestfestival.org for more information, and facebook group - http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2241660043&ref=ts

Directions to Cherry Beach
Take Lakeshore Blvd West past Parliament, turn south on Cherry Street and follow it to the very end. Go east along the bike path, just past the soccer fields and then cut down through the forest to the beach... youll hear the music.

Dodgy Weather
Its always amazing to us how keen people are to head to the beach regardless rain or shine, and were bulldogs and always try our best to get things up and going there no matter what. But sometimes it is necessary to delay or, sadly, cancel. If the skys not looking so great give us call (not a text) to find out whats happening - Dave 416 550 2702 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 416 550 2702 end_of_the_skype_highlighting and Irving 416 902 1740 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 416 902 1740 end_of_the_skype_highlighting. Well update our voicemail messages as needed, starting around 1pm.

And remember your reusable mug, and also one for a friend who forgot.

See you down at the beach!

cheers,
David and Irving

While I'm not trying to say it's your fault and/or condone stealing, taking better care of your stuff obviously prevents that.

Generally speaking:

- Early afternoon is more down-tempo type stuff
- As the sun sets, things usually get feeling a bit housey
- Night usually ends off on the techno/tech-house side of things.

But, that formula changes now and then. They have had dub step, psytrance, DnB, tech-trance, etc. The lineup is usually sent out a few days before Sunday. I'd say the above 'relaxed->house->techno' probably fits like 90% of the time I've been there.

On long weekends, they usually have the Samba drum circle thing going on just before the sun-sets and things kick into party-mode after.

A few times last year they tried ending off the night on the ambient/downtempo side to help clear out the beach a bit earlier in the night, not sure if they are still doing that. I've only been to CB once this year and the place was still pretty jumping at 11:30pm or so when I left.

^Sounds like a lot of fun.. I'm leaving Toronto around 9pm so I'll make sure to pass by for a few hours.. I like the sound of that, downtempto to house to techno.. hopefully thats whats up for sunday!
