iPad DJing The Next Big Thing

Reading MacLife magazine and there seems to be a new wave of DJ's now using just a midi-controller & 2 iPads to DJ with. Seems like the next big thing in DJ technology.

iPod DJ'ing never really took off, so I doubt people are going to drop the money for two iPads just so they can use them as pseudo-decks with an intermediary MIDI-controller.

i see the opposite happening right now..with djs like sasha going back to cds...and vinyl doing pretty good to..of course its never going to come back on top again ...but it will never die either...but stuff like this will come and go its just a fad...

The iPad obviously is a much better choice than the Lemur, so anyone using something like the Lemur will be better off using it and will be glad to see these developments.

For me personally I think it's pretty neat. I will probably buy an iPad some time in the future, and then I can also use apps like Griid to use it as an extra controller

completely depends on what you're actually trying to accomplish. in terms of over all user comfort and ease of customization and template creation for literally any video/audio program out there? nope

That is really good.
But the main point for me would be that the Lemur doesn't have the enormous advantage of quality of touch which the iPad does have.
Also the price is obviously much better for an iPad

For that price though I'd want to have a better touch experience so my point would be that the iPad will be the better choice in the end when there's plenty of apps to choose from. Some of which that may even mimic everything you can do with the Lemur's software in the future.

-Expensive
-Worst than cdjs/tts even than a laptop
-Looks heavily unprofessional.
-You'd have to carry them to the club and start connecting wires and everything, waste of time.
-You need a midi controller, more weight to carry.

This left the ipad usage to this kind of people:

-Wannabe djs
-General stupids
-People with more money than brain

Using it as a complementary tool to trigger effects or something like this is Ok , substituting the cdjs and mixer with this no.

isn't her setup more akin to a producer creating a liveshow? i'm thinking EDM bands/artists who toured with a liveshow pressing buttons to combine elements and layers of their tracks at one time... her example of how she uses the ipad is the same style of controlling the track, rather than playing a record and mixing it with another one to form a set.
