Anyone listen to nu disco?

I know this is a trance board, but anyone here into nu-disco?

Anyone know where I can find livesets, podcasts, or radio shows?

Do nu disco djs get booked for massives? I know I've seen Treasure Fingers booked a few times, but I can't say I know any others.

I'm loving it almost as much as trance.

So far, a few producers I've found that I love are Grum, Odahl, and Diamond Cut.

Kinda like ducksauce disco house right?

It's starting to appear more and more in main stream house...

Actually yeah kind of like that!! I never used to like Armin van Helden, but I kind of like Ducksauce tracks.

The "Nu Disco/Indie Dance" genre on beatport is completely hit or miss, some of it is nu disco and other tracks are just @_@ to me.

JohnBeaver - Unfortunately, that's electo more so than what I'm looking for. I'm looking for disco sounding / retro 80s type stuff.

If you like nu disco...I recommend getting into real disco from the late 70's and early 80's. It's slightly different then the original 70's disco sound.

Check out this blog:

http://deepdiscoculture.blogspot.com/

Primarily "THUMP'N Disco Quick Mixx" 1 and 2. Its mainly early 80's disco/new wave so its really comparable to the nu disco sound.

There are also tons of house gems with that sound (sometimes hard to find), one of my favorites is this track:

I have a nice big collections of "albums" from back in the days. Disco, high energy & nu-wave are some that grace my collections.

Again I have to say, listen to my podcast. It's exactly what you're looking for

That said, also check out Tim Sweeney's Beats In Space. Big favorite of mine

What format? vinyl? CD's? Cassettes? 8-Tracks?

I have like 8-10gigs of disco

It was cool. Some legit Disco tracks in there (or edits?).

Deep house to start was a clean way to start it off.

Reminds me of a DJ Harvey set.

Both, and thank you

Episode 3 part 1 is a live mix from Jimmy and I at our last party. Episode 2 part 1 was just a chart mix from myself. I think episode 4 will be a proper studio mix from the two of us, but first we gotta work on our Avalon 6-year anniversary mix.

Posted by Nerologic on Aug-23-2010 22:37:

Only input I have is that some of the transitions could have been cleaner/smoother, other then that the mix was on point...

Posted by bas on Aug-24-2010 00:25:

Yeah I was pretty shaky in that live mix, must have been the booze. I have a habit of getting too into party mode while I'm playing, I need to work on that

Is Aeroplane classified as nu-disco?

Posted by Sadface on Aug-25-2010 00:25:

I'd say so.

Yah.

Fun Fact:
Aeroplane broke up, one guy is keeping the Aeroplane name and the other guy is going as The Magician. Shame too about the split, their album is about to drop

i believe the one that left was mainly the producer and the other was mainly the performer too. sucks.

some of my favorites:
fred falke
treasure fingers
lifelike
kris menace
GRUM
burns

there is a local called casual touch who played an amazing open set for control not too long ago.

we will be featuring some of these artists on oct 15 and dec 10 at control - keep an eye out for full lineup.

Posted by bas on Aug-25-2010 16:12:

I think they broke up because of the Breakbot remix. They don't want to admit it, but it has to be that. That track is terrible.
