Well as of last night the source code for the PS jailbreak dongle has been released as freeware. It's ported to run on Teensy and ATUSB microcontrollers. It's also being ported to run on TI 84 calculators, Android, iPhone, and PSP's. Happy hacking.

The backup manager now runs on blackcatUSB jtag (flashers) which are used to flash the Motorola surfboard modems. Some teams are working on a PSP version and Android/iPhone apps which can turn the phone into a micro controller and run the app. The exploit gives complete level 2 access which is where GameOS resides. This means you can run an app that can fully utilize the power of the PS3. We can get OtherOS back that Sony took away from us in firmware update 3.21 but at full power unlike before. They only allowed maybe a 1/4 of the processing power it is capable of. The electronics world is going crazy now...there is a Worldwide shortage of micro controller boards and Atmel chips. Crazy shit!!

lol, Sony was suing an Australian dealer that was going to carry one of the Jailbreak USB devices AFTER the source code was released to the public. The court ruled in favor for Sony, so now they can probably use this case to try to prosecute others. Pointless at this point since a Palm Pre phone, Android, TI 84 calculator and about 6 other devices can run the same code, lol.

Another huge step today was the release of an FTP app for PS3 which allows transfers to the HDD. This was impossible as of yesterday. You can transfer anything u want to the hdd now. The stock xmb would only recognize a few codecs, file types, etc before and never had any chance of saving other types of data to it (games included). Door is officially wide open now

FYI...if any of guys want to play around with your ps3 in this matter...DO NOT update your firmware to 3.42. The exploit only works on 3.41 for now.

I received the original PS Jailbreak ordered from www.gadget-asia.com. It works very well with my PS3, whose firmware stays as 3.41. I have backed up several favorite games to the HDD. We also received emails from them saying the producers had been working to upgrade the mod chip. It seems to be compatible with 3.42 and 3.5, but I'm worried to try it, so I keep the firmware as 3.41". Hope it will be upgraded soon.
