DC HUB update!!!!

ok so i just finished the hub website.. included are an info page, polls, suggestions, etc.. so go there if you are curious, if you want to suggest something, if you want to email a hub op, if you need to know how to log on, if you need help, if you want your mom, well.. i guess not that last one but you get the idea..

Well.. first off, i must thank you and bizz for all your hard work.

but.. there is one thing i would like to point out.. let's try to keep this a little quieter OK?

I mean, all it would take is for hillary rosen to come and find your page and this awesome server would get shut down.

there are ways of making information accessible, but not obvious. i know some forums even have well.. you get the idea

anyway.. all i'm saying is let's be discreet, and at least not associate this hub with this site at all, it would be even worse if the site got shut down.

Why must you friggin idiots keep going on and on about this and then lamers make threads about it and we mods get like 4-5 pm's a day about this gay topic.

well, first off, john, im not assiciatin ta with the hub at all.. do you see ta anywhere in my post? secondly.. hillary rosen is not going to find our hub.. she couldnt get in because shes not a member of ta.com.. when swamper sees hillary rosen sign up he can tell bizz and bizz can just not give her access! (HAHAHA funny) anyways, i know that this cannot be associted with ta, but there are hubs out there that have 50TB and 1,500 users that could easily be shut down but arent.. why would they ever go after this one??? so thanks for the concern and I understand, but I think we're gonna be just fine.

sidenote: there is nothing on the site linking tranceaddict.com to the hub aside from the fact that it is a ta.com user-run hum (which is said) but otherwise, there is no hub address or tranceaddict address...

and as for linking with this site, well, you post about it on this site, and anyone looking on this site will equate them.

and like you said, right at the top of your site, it says

I suggest you take that off, and we make a forum for only DC members, that is private.

yes, it will probably be OK, but, best to be as careful as we can.

John: Our legal system is based on facts and certainty (for the most part). If someone saw this on the site and assumed that is was connected with TA.com there would be no basis for any legal action. Even the fact that its run by members of TA means nothing. hell, it could be put like this, "the people who but italian cars present: a site for your convienence." Does that mean that Italian car manufacturers are all in on some huge conspiracy to pirate trance music and they must be prosecuted and taken out?? no... so heres the bottom line... I dont want to be a tool of the government and act all scared because britney spears and metallica hate piraters while much of the trance industry really has no problem (as far as I know) with sharing because its not so mainstream and it does sell records.

It would be a good idea to add that to the site then

hahaha add at the bottom "Please do not close this hub as all members are carefully selected and are computer trainers for smaller children having their first lesson with computers and file sharing is a standard skill that must be taught".

One flaw in your no relation to TA theory:

You have to be a member of TA forums to gain access to the hub!!!

Basic rules:
1. Minimum share required: 200 MB

I have a question about this... If someone's logged onto the public hub what does this mean exactly? I mean bith hubs are linked... does this mean that for instance someone logged in on the public hub can still dl off the private one (via linking) or the other way around or WHAT? if you are concerned about legal issues, i suggest that you have someone write some scripts, one of them a disclaimer page. ive been using dc for quite awhile to download anime, and we have a script (you just type !info or !disclaimer, etc) and a disclaimer will come up about legal shit. just something to think about.

and to Mystoz: fuck off.. that "lame page" makes it a lot less work for all of us keeping this shit going. i take pms and mails and messages on the hub all day long asking "why cant i connect" or "why cant I search - which is fine and dandy cuz that what i'm here for, but anything that will make our lives a bit easier I think is a great thing and i'm sure the other ops will agree.

oh, and im gonna back up smellsexcellent 100% here... stop talking shit about the webpage. maybe it doesnt help you out or poses some "risk" to tranceaddict... but im sure it helps out a lot of people who havent ever used dc and just want information. and how do any of you get off on pissing on something FREE that someone spent time on, for YOU.

for my animeplanet hub, i made a big site with a forum people can post in if they get banned (happens sometimes on accident, with that many users), tutorials on how to use DC/IRC/newsgroups, etc... at first i didnt know if anyone would actually use it but as it turns out, LOTS of people use it for those resources.

it makes me angry when someone puts time into something for a huge group of people, and they take it for granted and complain. make your own damn hub and website and then you can talk shit about something you are getting for free.

amen to that.

legal issues or not, heat score or not, it still took a lot of work, and i thank both bizz and smellsexcellent for hooking us all up with this.
