Smoking ..umm..something For those who know....Shipping from US

Whats up everyone!!

I'm about to get my TTs + mixer shipped from Cali, now the shipping itself doesn't seems to cost much (I went to the UPS website and figured it out from their charts.....USD$51, maybe its wrong!?). But I was wondering if there was a way to find out how much I will get taxed on them on the way in. They are used, so I'm sure that would lower it.....but I still want to find out ahead of time so that I have my finances straightened out!

can anyone help me!?!?!

Dunno sad story for me...

I had some TT's and mixer sent out to me as a gift for doing someone a big favour, but when the tables arrived in the area, they had taxes and shipping charges of about 330 canadian!!! (im in toronto) so I tried to gather the money but they ended up shipping BACK the TT's!!!!

To this day, they're paid for, I just have no idea where they are!

**forgot to say**
it was from UPS! sent from america!

Never ever EVER use UPS for stuff coming from the states! You'll get charged 15% tax plus a "Customs Handling fee" which will probably be about the same as taxes.

DON'T DO IT!!!!

OK, thganks for the advice...

but then what is the best way to ship them over here??!

most times when I got my stuff (TTs, mixer etcz) the only charged 15% tax and that's it.

Get them sent by regular USPS mail and on the customs paper, have them mark it as a gift with a value of less than 60 dollars, then you won't get taxed.

but if they are a company, I don't think they can do that.

I ordere a damn t-shirt once.. value 21USD. UPS charged additional 40CAD. I never ordered anything since.

too bad :(

I wish i knew a way to find out if my package was still there at ups... I'd DEFINETLY PAY THE 338 or so to get 2 technics 1200's!!!

Wouldn't it be obvious though that these things that weigh like 60 lbs. altogether are less than $60?!?!

I'm getting them from my friend's girlfriend, so she can definitely do it.

so what would be the difference between UPS and USPS?!?! just the fact that I can mark them as a gift and lower the value?!?!

***I need some urgent help because they are supposed to get shipped out this weekend if not today!!!!

thanks ppl!!!!

USPS = United states postal services, public service, cheaper, slower
UPS = United Parcel service, private company, more expensive, faster?

oh yeah, it helps if the items were build in Mexico, US or Canada... there's no duty because of the free trade. Maybe she can mark that on the papers... Also marking that the items are gifts helps also.

They'll still charge 15% tax though..

of course... duty ain't the same thing as tax (sale tax)... duty can be easily like 20%+ alone.
