Pretty sure those were the first releases of them. As you can see, Push was a year behind. Push fanboys will argue that it's not a ripoff though, be warned
This happens a lot in epic trance music. I found a lot of these back when I was a trancecracka. Now, i'd attribute it less to 'ripping off' and more to multiple producers coincidentally discovering the same catchy sequence of notes through trial and error. It's bound to happen in any kind of music that is based on catchy sequences of notes.
There you go!
Love how trance basslines used to be so fucking muddy,
Also Saltwater sound fuck all like Strange world.
Also Strange World prob is a rip off of VDM, but I feel it was better executed.
strange world (2000 remake) uses a similar melody to shamu which was released in 1998. alphazone however was blatantly ripping off strange world 2000 rather than shamu.

Not going to push this much further, but if this is unintentional it's quite awesome. The argument about thousands and thousands is decent at best, this happened within a year.
Whether or not you like the ripoff better than the original is of course entirely up to you.
I heard strange world long before I heard shamu, and I still prefer the latter, even if I like strange world as well.
I think producers "push" eachother more or less in the same direction when they are in the same genre. Many tracks are needed to notice this direction, which probably lead to all those stupid sub genres.
That's why it probably happed in a short period of time, but that also could be just coincidence.
Also I think if someone heard a track or melody, his own productions could be affected by it, without being aware of it.
It kind of remembers me of 1991/1992 when there suddenly were two house tracks using Carl Orff - O Fortuna (until they were forbidden)
Just one is at youtube, the other was Fortuna - O Fortuna:

ugh no offense but all 3 of those tracks sound cheesy and wack in 2010

The first time I heard 'Strange World' I though ut was a blatant rip off of 'Shamu'.
However, I do like the Orignal version as opposed to the AVB remix. AVB mix sounds way too done up.

I've never seen something typed that is just so plain wrong. Go keep listening to your ATB styled vocal nonsense.

I thought this would be a battle of Push - The Legacy vs Push - Strange World.
The Legacy wins for me
