Reason Help Thread for Begginers.

I have reason 2 now. And im finding it really friggin hard....

I have a few questions.

1. When I Use .Wav files, say for percussion, do i have to load a digital sampler for each sample?? This would mean the rack is full of samplers for each percussion noise.....

2. Also same sort of thing.. if i want to assign reverb to different samples... does each sample need its own reverb generator? As you cannot connect multiple samples to one reverb thingy...

3. Does anyone know any good tips of creating good bass synths in Subtractor? Or does anyone have any presets for it? hehe.

4. Same as question 3, but for main leads.

a couple of more questions.....

1)I want to import a whole wave file (entire track) so i can play about, remix it etc. how and where do import the wav file. is this possible at all?

easier questions...

2)how do i assign a piece of reason (i.e. drum machine) to a specific mixer channel?

3)Once if finsihed makign my drum loop, how do i put it in to the sampler at the bottom so i can pres splay and listen to the track so far?!

may thanks... Nell

P.S. dave, ive pm'd starfox about making it sticky

No, you can use the drum sampler to load more files. Just create another if you need one.

Yes, you can assign the AUX 2 channel to different samples. In the mixer you have 4 knobs per channel, use the 2nd one for the reverb.

Hehe, I'm still learning this..

No this ain't possible so far as I know. What you can do is cut some samples out of the track using a audio-editor like Sound Forge, and then load them into your project (*.rns file).

Press TAB, and you'll see the back of your setup with all the wires and stuff. Go to the sampler/synth or whatever you want to assign, and look for the "output". Right click on that, and you can assign it to a mixer channel, or even to other things like a reverb machine, or a delay machine.

Go to the piano roll of the drum sampler, and add notes. Here you can create the drum loop and you'll see it below in the sequencer.

Hope this all will help you, as I'm still a beginner..

im currently looking at sounds for redrum. ive come across a sample called "Tec12_Cologne_135_eLab.rx2" by hovering over it, it gives me an entire drum loop that i like and want to use. but when i select it, im brought to another sub folder which has all the different sounds that make up that drum loop. so obviosuly i want to import them all into redru, BUT how do i do this?

in redrum there is the grid, ABCD / 12345678 (situated at the bottom as buttons) and there are eight channel things, where you can change the sound of each beat.

could someone explain step by step how to get this loop into redrum? do i have to use a whole channel per beat? can i have more than redrum machine open/working. thanks, Nell

Rex loops need to be loaded into Dr. Rex. You can only load .wav files into Redrum.

As for the ABCD/12345678 controls at the bottom, they are there if you prefer TR style programming. You can do the same thing using the sequencer at the bottom of the window. Personally, I prefer using the sequencer for everything (I don't bother with rackmount sequencer controls, or the Matrix sequencer), but someone who has extensive use with real drum machines may prefer to use the sequencer controls directly on the Redrum.

here's another question for you guys.

if i have a one minute vocal sample as a .wav, how do i load that into reason? the only module that acceptes wav is the drum machine, but im not going to load a long vocal into the drum machine...

any ideas?

thanks!
steve.

You're pressing the wrong "Open" button.
There's 2 of them - other for opening Reason NN19 patch samples and other for wave files. I couldn't find the button first either but it is there - just keep looking.

LOL - I have no idea who it is... someone posted this to mp3.com boards about a year ago claiming it was a picture of a certain spammer person... and I stole it

I used to have an even better pic as my avatar but some people said it was too disturbing for some strange reason
