Don't flame me bro...[Studio Monitors]
Unfortunately this is one of those "My first pair of studio monitors I'm new and shit" thread.
I'm put in an unfortunate circumstance however, as all of the local music shops in my area do not have the desired monitors in stock...SO I CANT LISTEN TO THEM. (!@#$***!@#$****!@#$!@#$!@#$!@#$...etc...)
I'm on the fence between :
http://www.americanmusical.com/Item...tm_medium=feed&
and
http://www.americanmusical.com/Item...-HS80M-PAK-LIST
My enginerding know-how says that the specifications are very similar.
I can get those yamaha's "scratched and dented" (lol?) for 279.99.
The money really isn't the big issue here...But I'd hate to pay more for the same, ya know?
Thoughts?
hs80m
uu need some mopads
I think djRann should get some Yamaha commission. Seriously. Even I might get some to compliment my superior genelecs just to fit in. So far I think he's convinced 5 people to buy them. IF only he could use his skills for evil. If you ever want to start a crime syndicate , I want in. It will be like the movies but for reals.

pads will definitely help. it's a cheap investment that'll work wonders.

Genelec (I'm only saying this because Genelec originates in my hometown, Iisalmi, so proud.)
you should ask if u could borrow them home. i just bought the HS80M and it didnt work here. Its not the monitors fault i guess but they are very big so i should have understood that the bass would be too much. The upper midrange is missing though imo, good placement or not.
I bought some HS80s and they're superb. And I did so without any RANN influence either!
Awesome monitors.
ive got the hs50m's and the hs10 matching sub and they really are great for the price.
+1 for HS80m
I bought my HS80Ms before RANN was even born, and I love 'em!
Awshum, thanks for the feedback gentlemen, should make the choice a little easier

yeah thats why i stayed away from them at first but as i have such problems here with bass its better to just be without it. i have a sub i can use in crisis situations, pluss i have headphones. hopefully this will be enough until i move.

got the Genelec 8020B today (B-version is new, only difference is a powerswitch on the back, and missing XLR-out for routing more speakers), and this little bastards are build like nukes, they are build of metal and they are heavy as shit!. the sound is amazing and very revealing and fit much better to my room with all the eq-options on the back. ill get back to how i like them after a while. and then hopefully i get my mixes better translated. will post a pic later too. finally i can sleep again lol.
oh and my own productions sounds horrible on them which is good.
do you believe it... i had to put on the 85Hz (6dB/oct) HP-filter on the Genelecs to get the sound i wanted. these are 4" monitors. talk about fucked up room.

If you've got a small room, then the JBL LSR 2325p's are excellent especially as they only cost $400 per pair, and the Mackie HR626's are nice, if a little overpriced for what they are. |

I have the older 1029 as well!. I prefer the square look. I bought 5 of them and the matching sub but never really got into that sort of mixing so it has more so been for watching movies than mixing. I always thought they were a little bass light for EDM but for classical , they sound fantastic.
So instead of starting a new thread.... because I am having the same issue... I thought I would post under here.
I myself have been in the process of purchasing new monitors because my current set, M Audio AV40's are just not cut out for production in my eyes. Now I just visited Guitar Center today and checked out the KRK R5's, the Yamaha HS50's, and the JBL 2325's. Now personally I wasnt too pleased with the KRK's, so we will just X that out of the choices.
Now the Yamahas, although I found them to be lacking low end monitoring.. sound very crisp for the mid's and highs... which I found to be very pleasing.
The JBL's however had a very nice mid, and low range... but lacked the higher end In my opinion.
So I am currently stuck between the 2 because they both have there good and bad points about them. If I could afford it I would probably buy the Adam A7's, but lets face it... my budget is pretty tight. I was wondering if anyone who have listened to the both of them could help sway me one way or the other. Reading here it seems that a lot of people liked the Yamaha brand. Just so you guys get an idea of the room I am working out of , its approx. a 12x25x12 bedroom, so its not exactly huge but not a closet either.
Any recommendations would help
Thanks a bunch!
