Sasha - Live at Gatecrasher 2000 (31.12.99)

Blimey, this is a blast from the past. These were the days when all I'd ever do is go clubbing to see Sasha LOL

He was only scheduled to play officially at Gatecrasher in the UK on Millenium Eve so we went and stomached a night of trance just to see him play for 1 hour. Turns out he ended up at our church (Fabric, London) in the early hours of the morning with Chemical Brothers and some others - really should have gone there.

It's my bro's birthday today (4th September) and he loved this set. So here's a little love spreading to anyone else.

A more "commercial" Sasha set if I may say so myself, but still a classic one at that.

Shame you can't hear a damn thing due to all the crowd noise.

Wasn't this at the Gatecrasher NYE event at Don Valley stadium? I've been at a gig there before and I can only imagine how good it must have been with a crowd that big going nuts to Dark Train.

I didn't think the sound was that bad. Obviously you can hear crowd noise.

Yeah the atmosphere was pretty special given it was millennium eve Memories lol

08. Bedrock - "Heaven Scent [Sasha's Special NYE Mix]" (Stress Records/Bedrock)

That is John Johnson remix.

Also I'm pretty sure he plays the Futureshock remix of Ces't La Vie.

The DJ Remy track is actually Pumped Up.

What a night that was, though not worth the 120 admission! Sasha played really early but was the best set for me.

Sure he played FSOL - Papua New Guinea that night, had one of those moments!

I seem to remember that too but not sure if it was after "Better Man" but this is the only audio I could find

Line-up was pretty good though, given most of this lot were at their peak in '99:

Sonique fucking sucks though. She's an absolute shit DJ, lol. I had the displeasure of seeing her twice in London, and once in Ibiza. Awful.

Totally agree - plus given the fact it was Millenium Eve, and GATECRASHER and god knows how many people, every single DJ pulled out the big guns and smashed it.

Chemical's DJ set was ace, Oakey & PVD too ... I wonder if you can get any of those other sets online? Hmmmm .....

I remember travelling up to Sheffield from London on the coach with everyone dressed in typical Gatecrasher type clothing .... ooooh, some classic pics Anyway, was listening to radio 1 and it was DJ takeover ... Carl Cox in Australia, Danny Rampling somewhere, Pete Tong somewhere else .... those were the days when Judge Jules used to have prime time.

How was Sonique?

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Sep-05-2010 12:16:

All those Radio 1 broadcasts are available as Essential Mixes somewhere online. Judge Jules and Paul Oakenfold's sets from the 'Crasher event are available.

I don't have a link, though.

Think Sonique was one of the first on so missed her, no great loss she was shit. Oakeys set was good but could have been better, Van Dyk's was interrupted by a twat climbing up the pylon. Rumour has it, Van Dyk then twatted him when he got down.

Haha yeah I recall PVD mentioned that guy in an interview.
