2004-end of old-school basses?

Have been listening to lots of 04 and 05 trance stuff and discovered that 04 was the final year when we still could hear those great, old-school, simple yet perfect guitar-bass-alike basslines. 05 was a year of a slight take-off from this trend presenting us with farty, sawish basses. What has actually influenced this change?

If 2004 is already "oldschool" this means I'm getting old, no?

comparing the music of 04 to the nowadays one, yea, its sounds old-school. Trance of 90s was great, yet too simple and empty in terms of structure.
And lunar phase, exhausted of decent thoughts?

No I simply don't have a clue as to what you are on about?

Do you mean rolling basslines?

I can't think of any track that uses a bass guitar or otherwise for it's low end.

Maybe i have just misunderstand the term "rolling basses". can you name one famous track and say "that's the one with rolling basses". Ok tilt-the world doesnt know, is that rolling basses?

I think i.e. Alex M.O.R.P.H. - New Harvest has a rolling bassline.
It's that semi-plucked, pluck lp-filtered and chorused saw wave bass, that has more audible harmonics than a usual bassline that consists of low pitch sine waves. Dark progressive from 04-06 is full of interesting and grooving more "old school" basslines, if you're craving for them.

It usually has approx. 2 hits an octave higher than the normal bassnote would be, making it even more audible.

If I was wrong, I was wrong.



edit. and it's a rolling bassline, not a rolling basses for fuck's sake.

Tilt the world doesn't know uses a side chained synthesized bass.

Rolling basslines are things that you typically hear in epic trance. I personally love them.

Ah then i meant the one in Tilt or those in UR 2004. Not farty saw yet really modern. I dont like when basslines become the main thing to listen in a track.

Yeah my example wasn't the best, but I couldn't think for shit.

So edit for another good epic trance rolling bassline examples.
