What are shows like? Never been to one.

I'm 43, been a trance fanatic for a long time, but never been to a club or show and thinking about trying to catch Tiesto or Corsten in October. What are shows like? Being 43 (but look 33) would I be out of place/too old? Is there anything else going on besides the dance floor? A place to relax a little? Get drinks? Are there usually other DJs that start the show? Anything else I should know? Thanks.

That's pretty specific.

You'd think so...

Yes, The main jocks will be too expensive. Unless it's a concert type affair.

Maybe you should just go see for yourself?
Every club is different after all.

Just do it, you won't regret it.
Clubs are nice too. In Europe (outside I guess too) the bigger ones have different area's with different music and also rooms, bars to relax.
I alway enjoyed the light shows a lot, next to the usual things...

So there are clubs and CLUBS
I always liked this one in Belgium, formerly known as Dockside, have a look just for an impression if you like:

@ 1:20, it really is just a club, a rather big one though.
Good they kept those awesome smoke turbines

Smaller but nice too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0UI...feature=related

Go to Corsten, youll like it better than Tiesto, better vibe and just the right level of awesome for your first show.

Cant go wrong with Ferry.

Why do so many people on here not realize that you're getting trolled?

I disagree. With Tisto you at least have a chance of getting something to dance to. Corsten, though not always, has a tendency to go way too melodic in my experience. Although it depends on what you like of course.

You haven't seen him lately, he is mixing things that could pass as electrohouse and pretty groovy stuff from 130 to 134 bpm, of course he plays some of his old tech hits which are more melodic.

Thanks for the serious replies. The rest of you ignorant bastards can suck my glow stick NOW it's a little inflammatory. The more you suck the more inflammatory it becomes...that's what she said.

I was wondering the same thing about the Corsten show, but he's got such great beats I figured he emphasised those in his shows. No doubt Tiesto's show would be great, but would it be more chill than say Corsten, PvD, or AvB?

AvB should be more chill but not really, PvD absolutely not he only plays bangers and rarely some tracks like PvD - Nothing but you (Super8 & Tab Remix) just to chill a bit.

If you want something chilling go for Deadmau5 he plays a lot of lowtempo.

Again, just go and see for yourself. I wouldn't consider any of them to be the height of DJ'ing greatness. But that's not really what it's about anyway. Just try and have some fun.

I personally don't like Jocks like Corsten or Above & Beyond because they're too soft at times. Although it depends on where they're spinning. I've heard them do the most preposterous things at Trance Energy for instance. Like complete orchestral symphony's which come out sounding like nothing but massively long baselines through the clubby sound system (BT). Or just intensely long uplifting breakdowns, one after the other, Whilst standing under a bunch of Olympic flames with the entire crowd standing still waiting for something to happen (Corsten). Or just generally being boring (A&B).

However at a normal festival Corsten is a lot more fun indeed.

I heard from a friend that PvD can still play a decent show. Would have gone to see him in Chicago w/ Benassi I think last year but I had no money

You could try going to raves instead, definitely cheaper than seeing a big name and (at least from what I've experienced) they're super fun.

Very helpful posts. Thank you. All right then, I'll just go, but I want my 1st time to be special...I'm thinking Tokyo. I guess it was a stupid question since techno minded people are generally pretty accepting.

I don't think it was stupid at all. Have fun.

Continue here with your other question and delete the other thread:

Have you been to a show in Japan?
