Demonica - WIP 2 by BluffMunkey

Early days, and just a rough layout.

Plenty of weird shizzle to add yet of course!

Well and truly inspired by Owen, and I make no secret of that fact!

Glad you're liking it. Forest Moon really needs to be looked at too, it was my first score style attempt and my mind went flat after I rendered that

I can't listen to it right now, chiefage. I'll return to this later this evening.

I'll just say that I really, really enjoyed the first draft. Looking forward to this one.

Cheers old bean!

I've reduced the percussion a lot as you suggedted! I think it was there for me, not the track

You may like the vocals. I think it'll be right up your street

This is a beauty! Very nicely done, sir. Very melodic. Very beautiful.

My favorite tracks on this forum these days have nothing to do with trance. I'm wondering if it's time for a non-trance/EDM subforum? Anyway, I have to agree with MSZ - this one is already my favorite track of yours. Love the vocals and piano. Can't wait to hear the finished version.

thankyou chaps

I've got so many ideas for this it's ridiculous!

Should be nice to hear the rest

Posted by tehlord on Sep-07-2010 08:31:

Thankyou chums!

The vocals are my misses singing, we recently found out she's got a pretty decent voice

Obviously I didn't have time last night! And I'm on a laptop right now, so there is no way that a pair of shitty speakers will do this marvelous piece justice. In the morning, chief, in the morning...

Looks like my plan of constantly encouraging people to make more ambient is working.

Interesting start you have here. I will look forward to seeing how you develop it.

Good post!

Amazing! It's good for you! Cheers old bean!I've reduced the percussion a lot as you suggested!

Haha cheers

You know there's something strangely fulfilling in the ambient creation.

I still think my main output will be teh bangin' tarnce tracks, but ambient satisfies a more creative need from deep within my tortured soul....

see

it's weird

Better late than never:

Loving this more with each listen I give it. Those "drippy" percussion sounds (chimes?) are very cool.

And those vocals, they sound like they've came from a top sample pack. Really quite nice!

I can't decide which I like more - the pads or piano. Both are equally impressive and work amazingly alongside each other. Mmm, maybe I'll lean a little more towards the piano.

Do I hear a door creaking at one point in the track? Whatever it is it sounds excellent! Wait, "The Oblivion Gates actually WERE a source of inspiration" - so perhaps I am right.

Just great so far.

lolz

Well I didn't expect you to be able to listen on a school night old fruit

There are a fair few random FX in there for sure. Teh drippy sound is a long windchime sample, and there's a creaking door in there too. All from freesound I might add! They're just dumped in there at the moment as I experiment, but I've found the quieter I make them, the more effective they become. Curious.

Glad you're liking the vocals so far. We've recorded all sorts of demonic whispering too, but that's proving tricky to get right.

I know why it takes you so long to get things 'just so' now

It usually does take me a long time to finish tracks. But I've learned in the past that tweaking for hours at a time is futile. Patience and positive sessions are a must.

Agred, and in fact I tend to walk away from ideas 75% of the time and go iththe ones that just happen when I'm taking a crap or something.

Saying that, the use of subtle samples in a mix is new and exciting, therefore taking up a disproportionate amount of time. but i'm learning, so in this case it's all good

Your fault though.

Without proof it's just an empty threat
