Name Your Favorite Song And Why.

Since music plays a big part of our lives, name what is your favorite song and why.
Try to think what if that particular song was never made, what would be your next?

Nick Holder - Summer Daze

Massive Attack - Group Four

I'm not exactly sure why it's my favourite, but it is. I just really like the way it's arranged, the variety of sounds and percussion used, and the creepy dark feeling of the song. And I still get chills from Elizabeth Fraser's vocals, just awesome.

My favorite song is from an anime about wolf furries.

I don't even like the show

awesome picks! I sometimes love a particular song because i would hear it live at the club with the producer/dj then it just reminds me how awesome the party was.

One of my favorites was Ferry Corsten - Made of love.

Element Four - Big Brother (12" Mix)

Probably the track that has given me the most goosebumps, also i think its maybe one of the most original and unique trance track made in terms of composition and production.
I have shed tears at times because i like it so much.

Oh and yes i have it on vinyl.

All time:
Sensorica vs Jin Key - Only One (Rave Mix)...one of the first songs that really gave me the chills to listen to it. Always have it with me in my wallet when i go to gigs but i rarely get the chance to play it.

Right now:
Simon Patterson - Backstab

When i first heard him play this live i almost wet myself...full on drive, 140 bpm, no BS. If he ever releases it it's gonna be the perfect track to drop out of a big uplifter.

Interesting that you chose that one, from the entire album (I'm assuming Massive Attack).

What is your reasoning? The OP did ask why, as well

It gave me goosebumps first time I heard it and still manages to do now. As for why, maybe because of the heartbeatlike beats, it's something different. Oh and inb4 "lol nothing original, it was done 40 years ago by this guy". There are a lot of gems on the album, Inertia Creeps are also among my favorite alltimers.

the temptations - papa was a rollin' stone.

why? because it tells a great story and dennis edwards sings his ass of in the song. but mainly it has a great backing track starting with that bassline in the intro and the string section and that wahwah guitar ever present in the background. it all goes in and out and forms a great structure all to the foundation of a 8th note hihat ever present in the mix.

i think the key moments is right before a key vocal moment like the verses comes in it's been a very musical section with great instrumention and it all breaks down to that 8th note hihat.

norman whitfield thought outside the box of conventional rules of motown soul and i think this and smiling faces and number of others set standards.

Wow. Good thread, lots of good tracks mentioned. Summer Daze is one of my fave dance tunes and I like a lot of tracks on Mezzanine.
So hard to pick an all time favourite, I've got many favourites for many different reasons but if I had to pick one, it's probably this old one because it always puts a smile on my face.

I remember i was at Ferry Corsten's show, this song gave me the goosebumps but it's not my all time favorite though.
FERRY CORSTEN - RADIO CRASH
It was his closing song, it gave me the illest chills. Never forget that experience with ferry.

Morgan King - I'm Free (The Full-Length La Serenna Mix)

I could write the whole book about it, but let's just say that I love how much it changes, both in mood and tempo. The whole time, however, it stays beautiful, elagant, positive and highly optimistic (even when you ignore somehow silly and utopistic lyrics).

I also adore its innocence and even slight naivness that was not just a by-product of its time (early 90s), however I'm affraid that we won't hear a piece of music with that kind of carefree vibe and atmosphere any time soon. So the nostalgia factor is also very strong in this one, unfortunately.

probably mr scruff - get a move on...the original moondog track is ace too.

Posted by Zak McKracken on Sep-07-2010 18:56:

it has everything. kick, offbeat donk bass, synth, rapping, hoover you name it, its there.
and because i used to get fucking wasted to it.
